One Phz 2000 ready for action!
Well I think that I can call the Phz done. I might find little bits along the way.
Anyway, here it is. I Hope that you will like it and if there are any real goofs that I have missed now is the time to say so.
Here are some of it before the dirt got at it:

All dirty and Decaled and varnished. It looks shinier in the photos than it actually is. In the flesh it is a nice silky soft matt.

Now I just have the Faun and trailer to do. I have been looking at the instruction booklet, all 39 pages! and also looking at the instructions from Eduard, trying to mark the Trumpeter instructions with where the Eduard PE should be remembered!!! Not an easy task.
I have made a start on the cab and things seem to fit rather nicely.

Well I have spent since Monday getting on with the Faun. Five days and I have not even got the cab sorted!
As mentioned at the start I got the Big Ed PE set to go with this part of the project. One set for the cab interior, one for the outside of the lorry and trailer, a set for all the diamond plate. Yet another set that is just the wire screens for the windows, but I will not be using those. There are also masks for the windows.
The long and the short of it is that You have the instructions from the kit AND three sets of instructions from Eduard. The trick is to look at them all at the same time so not to miss any of the PE that has to be used!
So here is the result of a weeks work:

The first three photos show the PE parts that line the inside of the cab. Before these where added, it was just a smooth plastic ceiling and rear wall. The last of the four shows a start on the outside of the cab. The louvre panel is just that, a panel of louvres that all needed to be pressed out!
Her is most of the inside of the cab. I have scratch built a new safty rail by the dash as the one in the kit even with the PE wrap was nothing like the one in the reference I have. The kits one was just one long bar. In the photos I have it is divided up into three padded sections. The kits Instructions also called out for all the seats to be brown. Again the photos showed that the driver and far side passenger seat had cloth covered seats in black and grey. There are still about 15 bits of PE to go in yet so will be a while before the lid goes on. The windows to will need doing before that happens!

Oh! did I say that the work bench looks like a direct hit with a 50 lb bomb?

Catch you all later

Thanks Chaps!
I have got the glass in and the lid on now. The doors are painted inside and will be going on later this evening after I have masked the windows up as I am bound to pop on out in the process!!!
Have moved on to the out side details now and have just spent half an hour bending up four parts of PE that will form the steps!!!
Photos later.

Your model's looking fantastic by the way, it's gonna be a real show winner this oneComment

Thanks!
I did actually start off with the Trumpy instructions, and the Eduard ones, reading both and noting on the kits instructions when I had to remember PE parts. Helped a bit but I still have to keep an eye on all the plans!
Spent this morning putting loads of diamond plates on the bed of the tractor and the mudguards etc., I had a few problems getting them to stick, but got there in the end. I remembered to take photos this time of the process of turning a bit of plastic into a bit of metal. Once I have got one of the mudguards finished, I will post the process in a little series.

Well I said I would put some photos up next time so I better keep my word.
As I said last time I was attacking the diamond or chequer plate. Here is sort of how it went:
First take the part that is to be done over:

Remove any lumps, bumps and other detail that some poor guy spent a month working up to the moulded part:

Then you take a sheet of Eduard PE and get busy with the scissors! Yes I said scissors. I have a rather nice pair of fine pointed scissors that are perfect for the job and leave no trace of the joining tabs thus save the job of smoothing the edges. You cab see them in one of the pictures.

The part is then folded and wrapped around the plastic part. The mudguard in this case. Careful use of CA did the job of sticking it together:

The bed of the tractor unit was also treated to a nice big bit of plate which was a total pig to get stuck down. The size prohibited the use of CA so the gator glue came out for that one. Together with about twenty grips to hold it in place while the glue set!!!

The cab has been finished off and the doors and windows masked with some very well fitting masks, also Eduard.

I also made a start on the trucks drive train and bed. Four axles, all different. That was fun. I now have the decision to make as to paint now and then build or build then paint. I think the first one will be the most prudent...and easiest.

That's it for now.

I forgot to mention that there are LOADS of ejector pin marks on the bed and some of the detail in the drive train. Most will not be seen, some will and are getting filed. Others that are in very nasty places I will just have to live with or hid with a blob of crud!!!
