Darren, glad to be of some help, can't have models on here that are not 100% what the modeller wanted!

I hope you didn't mis-interpret my tounge in cheek price, it comes f.o.c., of course..

I will send him off to you today.

    Ron

      Bit of an update folks,

I have added some wooden boards to the fence and textured the grass. As you might know I don't buy stuff for my dioramas as I've yet to find summat made of plastic that can compete with nature!

For the grass, I hit on the idea of using scrunched up cereal, then I painted it with green shed paint.

I wanted the grass to have an eaten, trampled look about it, so apart from a bit of mud which I will add later, I'm happy with it.

I have never done grass and sheds in any scale, let alone this diddy 1/72 so I am really enjoying this build and learning loads as I go along..... I also planted a few 'tatoes!

I had intended to finish the base, pond and all, but it is pointless when its going to have a visitor to alter it....

So next thing is to add the 109. Then add bits and bobs once the aircraft is in position.

I hope you approve of things so far, and thanks for your suggestions and input.

"Mildred, come out and have a look, ther's a right scrap going on up there, look, one's been hit! It's a Jerry and it's coming down. Gawd! it's going to land on us, Run!"

      Ron

Evening all, Just a little bit of an update, had a couple hours in the shed tonight so i thought i 'd better get on with the spitfire, i had the base coat already sprayed earlier in the week with valejo model air paints. Gave it a coat of gloss varnish and using micro sol applied the decals then another coat of varnish to seal them onto the plane. I then used a black wash to bring out the panel lines and give it that used look.

I also used a black acrylic to simulate an oil leak from the damaged engine, this will also be misted on to the canopy once Ron's pilot arrives safe and sound.

I thought i'd better give the poor bloke somewhere to land so i am just doing a small base showing a stone wall and what will be a wheat field.

All comments good and bad please.

A great looking spitfire. Like the damage loads, nice to see something different.

            Regards

Cheers Colin, looking at the photos again i've decided to get myself a decent camera, i don't think my phone camera cuts it on these small close shots. Knowing less about cameras than i do about spitfires (not a lot). Is it macro or something to take close up shots??

              Cheers

All my pics are taken with an old Kodak DX6340 3.1M using the close up application.

Cracking model Darren, I do like the damage, not over done just enough.....Don't you just luuuurve a good ploughed field? lol

This will look the dog's when complete and judging by your progress and getting a pilot, that shouldn't be long now.

                  Cheers,

                  Ron

Cheers Ron, sort of nicked your idea when it came to thinking of something soft to land on, did think of a flock of sheep but couldn't find the cotton wool:cheesygrin:, pilot fitted in lovely ta.

Got to figure out how to make a field of wheat now:thinking:

                    Cheers

I can't take the credit for the ploughed field. I first saw it on one of John's (Centurion3RTR) cracking armour dioramas.

                      Glad the pilot fitted O.K.

I think it was Dave (gern) or Scott (Noble) who has a great way of making grass ect. I think it was some sort of carpet pile. I'm sure someone will post about it!

Had a sneaky hour in the shed so did a little more to the spitfire, stuck the canopy on and weathered the exhausts a little.

As the plane is coming in shot up and losing oil i thought it may smoke a bit so added some.

Have test fitted it to the base that needs a lot more work.
