Afternoon all, been busy today on the "Scooby". The bodywork is now blue and looks good, if you are going to spray with car paint then i can't recommend bumper primer enough. It's designed for plastic bumpers but is excellent on models, just put it on in light coats and build it up (what am i telling you lot for, you know how to paint lol). It's now ready for decals but i'll get some more work done on the interior and give the blue time to harden.
If you liked them you're going to love these, hopefully a lot more than i did doing the decals. I had a problem with one of the 555's (i know why i like tanks now) but i think i've got away with it lol. Still need to fit Colin's door and roof numbers but now it's looking the part.
Looking real good so far John. A Scooby is actually one car I would like to own in real life. Always fancied one but the big sell was this winter when one pulled up next to me at the traffic lights. Nice Packed snow and ice and the guy just put it into launch control and the second the lights changed he was gone!!! Might of helped a bit that he had studded tyres but any how...... wicked.
I digress.
Colour looks right but I have to ask, why didn't you use the "proper" colour that you got off your mate?
Hi Ian, the 2K was on thick side. If i was to use it for the airbrush the solvent would of killed the plastic mate, so didn't bother using it. He was saying he's got about eight litres of Scooby blue in his garage i can have if i want it free, i'll give you three guesses what i said. It'll look very nice on my Capri lol.
Some more work over the weekend, and thought it was heading for the bin. Finished getting all the decals on and as it was nice and sunny yesterday i sprayed some clear lacquer (halfords) and it started to react with the plactic, under three coats of primer and three coats of blue!! Need to find some other brand of lacquer if i'm going to build car on a regular basis. All i'm going to say is "thank god for Pledge Multi Surface Wax", i just brushed it onto the affected areas and when it was dry sanded it back and polished it up. All nice and smooth now so the bin is back where it belongs, under the bench.
90% of the lights are in, again "thank god for Pledge Multi Surface Wax". Fitted one light at a time dry then with a brush run Pledge around it to glue it in place. That way it doesn't frost up and it doesn't matter if the catch the lense.
Ron matey, the aerials on this are like buses. You don't see one for ages then two come at once :grinball2:
Good save John. Don't you just hate it when that happens. I sprayed a model race boat with a rattle can. five coats, wet sanded between each coat. put a coat of clear over it the following weekend and it crinkled up like crazy! Bugger.
Was looking for something today, something completely different to what i found. I've only found some decals for the helmets, they're from the 2002 car but they have the same "555" flash. The trademark gold wheels are ready to fit and i made a start on Colin & Nicky, i just had to have the spot lights on (it's the law lol) so i'm going on the frist photo of the scooby because you can only see it's bum. All in all i'm getting there, slowly.
