    Gern's Lightning - maybe!

I'd like to have a go at this but the only Lightning kit I have is the 1/32 Trumpeter F.1a/F.3.

Were any of these made that did NOT have a silver finish and, if so, are markings available? I've never done silver before and I don't fancy starting on such an expensive kit.

Hannants sell these two decal sheets for a 1/32 scale F3.But you would still need to paint the undersides aluminium.

I'd seen pictures of this camo pattern, but not clearly enough to tell if the undersides were silver or grey. Had they been grey I'd have chosen one of these but it's still a no-no because they're silver.

Just spray the under side with a rattle can and you'll be fine.

Mike Thopmsen flew a mk F3 . serial XP753 which if I recall was three tones of grey. It was a part of the Lightning training flight, there are a good few photos of it on the intweb. I'm Not sure if the underside of the wing was silver though.

point of interest, this was the last He flew as he paid the price in the self same aircraft.

Have a Google and see what you think.
