Ian M's Harriet GR 9

Well here is my entry for the Harriet build.

Its a bit lonely in here! Hej Wendall! You are no longer alone!! :-)

This is the Revell re box of the Hasegawa kit and as the sprue pics show, the detail is pretty good and I will be doing this one OOB. I have had a look in the stash and dont have a seat for it!

That could change though. Its a huge cock pit and the seat will be very visible!

    The sprues:

Looks like we've got the same kit again Ian.Although I need to finish my Lightning and Defiant before I start on the Harrier Sig.

Been a bit lacking in photos on this one, but I have not done much either.

There seams to be a lot of bits laying around on the desk! Been making some of the sub assemblies...

The pointy end is ready for a bit of primer. Those Berna clamps are quite handy for long things! I even used the decals for the IP!!!

That cockpit looks sweet Ian. Can't believe how much detail there is compared to the Tamiya kit. Is that OOB???

Jep. OOB You must remember that the Tamiya sea harrier is an old girl and is showing her age. The Revell kit is a re-boxing of the much newer Hasegawa kit. (same tool to half the price)

The detail is pretty good but I used the decal for the knobs and buttons! I was feeling lazy.

                        Harriet gets a Nose Job.

Well after having been in the garden, planting up some pots and planters with about 100 spring bulbs, I thought it was time to come in out of the wind and do something sensible!

Finally got to paint the insides of the intake parts, so I can at last put the nose on. Harriet is a shapely lady and thus the front end is quite a clever construction. The fit was pretty good but the location points are a bit iffy... Still got there in the end.

Two things I have been very please with are those Berna clamps that Laurie sent me.

                        Also these:

gloopers I bought from Johns shop!
In effect they are a pen nib for liquid glue. After the first few attempts they are very simple to use and better than any brush. This one is the small size one. Just dip it in the glue, touch the loop to the seam and the glue runs off the nib and along and into the seam! Smart.

Decided to put the pylons on the wings already, I have a feeling I will regret that later....

Jet nozzles painted in Alclad steel, they will get a dusting of burned iron later....

Well SWMBO was asleep on the sofa, so I took a chair in the study again...

I got some burned Iron and light burned Iron dusted on over the Steel... I like Alclad.

Her nose fixed and the splints removed, she now also has wings. Rather a good fit, except one place. Under the wing where the LERX thingiemabobs fit. Bit of a gap... But should be easy to hide.
Harriet is now looking much sexier..

That's looking great Ian! Harriers have a muscular look to them I've always thought, no-nonsense & practical.

The engine nozzles are ace, I must try some Alclad in the future.

                            Cheers

Your GR.9 is looking good Ian, have to agree that you are brave putting those pylons on now though. As you say the Harrier is a nice looking beast. The GR.3 is pretty ugly in the nose department though, looks a bit like a dolphin.
