I nearly forgot to do an update on this build so here it is. I have started on the first building by putting three walls together and adding a frame work for the floors. Once this was done I added some stirrers as floor boards. I did have a bit of a set back as predicted by Moni when I removed the door. The front of the house basically ended up in four bits. Not to worry as I can make it look like it has been hit by a round.
OK so I am now on to the desert build proper but now find I can't make my mind up on the layout. below are two photos which do you guys think looks best?
Over the last week I have made a start on the LRDG vehicles to give me an idea on how I want the dio layout to look. I am going to add a couple of German vehicles to the mix as I want it to look like there has been a bit of a fire fight at an out post. As yet I am unsure which way I prefer the buildings (seperate or joined). Does anyone have any thoughts on this?

My thoughts are this on either of the layouts I want a German truck parked behind one of the buildings with maybe a Kubelwagen out front. with both either having or had there insignis removed or about to be destroyed by the LRDG patrol.
Terry, how about keeping the main buildings apart, but join them with a simple arch / vehicle wide alley way, and have the flat roof going across to the tower as a sort of balcony complete with a concrete upstand around it? You could then put a doorway into the first floor of the tower.
