Hi Everyone
Well, here's the start of my 1/16 Panzer IV build. There's not a great deal to show thus far, but I have managed to get through to page 6 of the daunting 51 page instruction booklet.
But first things first...
The Kit
The kit comes in a large stout box with a handy carrying handle (anyone who's built a Tamiya RC Tank will be familiar with this feature). Inside you're presented with 4 smaller boxes each brim-full of plastic parts. All the parts are carefully packed in bags and the overall feel of the package is quality.

The Parts
The detail on the parts is quite something, not only is there plenty of detail in evidence but the quality of the moulding is exceptional. Without building the kit I cannot vouch for it's accuracy but my impression of the parts in the boxes is excellent.
The Extras
With such a detailed and comprehensive kit aftermarket extras are pretty unnecessary, but I will be adding Zimmerit (this is going to be a 12SS Normandy Panzer IV) and this comes courtesy of Atak.
I also managed to pick up some masks for the markings but I honestly can't remember where I purchased them from???!

The Build starts
The build instructions begin with the engine and what an engine it is! I estimate that around 70 parts went into completing the first 2 pages of this build! That said, it is an enjoyable build and comes together relatively quickly.
As you can see I've got the engine together but I've left some parts 'dry-fit' for ease of painting.
The engine beside a bottle of 'Contacta' for scale...

And here's the sub assemblies...

...and that's it for the mo. Not a great deal to show yet but it is a start and I'm looking forward to the build.
Next time more engine and gearbox assembly.
Cheers
