    Hi all,

Here's a quick update of progress

    The MG42 is finished.

It's a nice little model and very well sculpted.

I painted it using just Humbrol Gun Metal, Matt DK. Brown...... and used a pencil on it too!

    Cheers,

    Ron

      O.K., here is the bloke's finished MP40...

No faffing around, simply primer, gun metal matt enamel and a pencil.

      Cheers all,

      Ron

Thanks boys for your great comments........

Like most of us doing this SIG, it's my first go at detail figure painting and I'm finding it quite fascinating. It's great seeing all the figures coming to life with each session I see from fellow 'Virgin figurers'!

Here's me' man up to now.

I am trying to get him to look as scruffy and fed up as I can. To that end I've ripped his uniform here and there and given him a pair of threadbare, fingerless mitts.

This is the first coat of paint, and I have had a go at weathering his clobber.

I was after a warn out, pinched look to his face, so I started with a well watered down coat of Lt. brown acrylic, thinking to build on that. However, I am really pleased with how just the one coat has turned out, so apart from a bit of mouth and eye work, I'm going to leave it as it is..... Beginner's luck, happy accident? Call it what you will, but I'm happy with it.

He even ended up with his eye painted. How that happened I really don't know!

Loads to do yet, but I hope you like the tentative steps so far.

              Cheers,

              Ron

Thanks John, I'm glad you like it. I thought the ripped uniform would help me get the look I'm after, and convey just how the once mighty Wehrmacht had fallen in the latter days of WW2...

This bloke is from the Gross Deutschland Division and, hearing the rumours that anyone from this outfit would be shot on sight by the Russians, has prudently removed his insignia and shoulder flashes....Can't say I blame him either!

                      Sing Lofty!!!!!!

That's really well done Ron. You've captured that war-weary look so well & the tattered uniform is magic!

Here's my man as good as finished. I have nearly finished a simple base for him, so I will post that in 'Completed', along with a few words to explain the state of him and how he came by the weaponry!

I hope you approve of this, my first attempt at a 1/16 figure.....Go easy on me, I bruise easily!

                          Cheers,

                          Ron
