American Chopper (ish), Centurion3RTR GB Build

Hi all, after seeing Paul (Beowulf) Custom Chopper I thought I'd join in on the fun. So onto Ebay and ordered this one, it's the Revell 'Crusader' but by the looks of it it's the same chopper as Paul's but with different wheels and decals.

How am I going to build this, to be honest, I haven't a clue yet. I'm thinking of making a new oil tank and modify the fuel tank, the wheels on the box I like so they're are going on. As for the colour, if it's going shiny then it's going blue but I'm liking the idea of satin black. Soooooo, it's looks like me and Paul are going all 'American Chopper'.

Have fun, Paul Teutul, sorry, John

The tank (armour) I was working on has now been moved to one side so I can work on this build a little, I've gone for the long fuel tank and started modifying it so it sits closer to the backbone. The wife has come in from work and she likes the looks of this chopper and said it would look nice in purple metallic, so purple metallic it is then.

          Photos to follow.

          Have fun, John

Here goes nothing, it's been a long time since I built a bike model lol. Right, I've re-shaped the rear because I didn't like the point, re-shaped the fuel tank for a better look and lowered it so it sits better on the backbone. The engine and forks have been de-chromed, the frame is build but without the forks. They have been modified so I can fit them later, and that's about it for now.

Hi all, had some time to work on this build and i'm loving it lol.

Mock up, de-chromed engine & forks.

Frame now painted in satin black and engine wired up, painted in aluminium with a little weathering.

I found a can of paint that I forgot about, it's a Rover colour called Amaranth Pearl. I'm so glad I found it because it was going Red lol, but this looks so much better.

                    Have fun, John

                      oooo, nice one!

these kits are great for bodging about with

yours is slightly different to mine as you have the hardtail frame and mines the softtail

as i recall theres about 8 or 10 in the series by Revell..........2 basic frames, about 5 or 6 different fuel tanks and types of wheels, 2 different handlebars (flat and apehanger)...a couple of different fender designs.....the hardtail gets a different oilbag

i keep thinking of dechroming my forks but not sure about how to repaint them as i have no alclad

You know Paul, I thought yours was a softtail but wasn't going to show my stupidity lol. Yes you're right, great models for messing about with, i'm thinking of getting some more (if the wife lets me). As for dechroming the forks, I used Hycote Aluminium. Brought by accident and shocked how good it was lol.

                        Have fun, John

one little trick with the hard tail is to give the seat some springs.....last time i did it i used some little bits of sprue in the right place under the seat and on the frame, then cut down a spring from a pen to go between, but of course you need to add the bits of sprue before painting the frame

best of luck getting some more of these, i believe they are out of revells catalogue now unfortunatly, im planning on rebuilding one of my very early ones by transplanting a 4 pot engine from a dead tamiya suzuki katana

Bit more of the purple one (got me at it now Ron hehehe), Now then, the exhaust. Was not happy with them so a fitted some wrap just to add some detail. It's just Tamiya tape with superglue over the top to seal it on there, now it's painted I'm happy with the look.
