Sorry for being lacking in the imagination department but been tempted by one of these for a long long time. This TB was the perfect excuse to buy one. Seeing one in a sale, I folded and ordered one, which was waiting for me when I came home from work.

I will take the liberty of skipping the sprue shots, if you want to see them I will put them up, otherwise you can see them in the other one being built.

All I need now is some paint. Those that know me will be well aware that in all the time I have been on here (my restart at modelling) I have built three German aircraft, so not a lot of RLM farbe in my paint box! They should be on the way soon, (hi John :-) )

So a Luftwaffe, 1/32 scale. I'm loosing the plot me thinks!!!

Well After a great party last night it was time for a quite day at home, so I got started on this.

Dude there are loads of parts! lol

Anyhow I started with the cockpit while I wait for the paints. Typical that having gotten a confirmation that the order is sent, I found that I had them in Vallejo!!!

Why cant they just call them what they are. If anyone is interested I can post the RLM 'V' Vallejo model color paint numbers.

A bit of a closer look.
Yes I have hidden all that framework that could be seen in the cock pit. The fact is that the inside of the cock pit was clad with plywood. So a bit of plastic card and cursing and swearing saw that sorted.

Edit: Just seen John's build. He's putting his on a small dock. The least you could do is put yours on a catapult as a contrast!

Ian, I've just re-read your post. I was asking about RLM 72/73 when I was thinking about my BV 222. According the the Model Air colour chart, Vallejo don't do RLM 72 so I bought the Humbrol ones. Which colour did you find for it?

Vallejo model color, have these in the range, The names they hide under makes it fun to find them:

RLM 02= model colour #886 Green grey

RLM 05 = #806 German Yellow

RLM 65 = #906 Pale Blue

RLM 66 = #866 Grey Green

RLM 70 = #897 Bronze green

RLM 71 = #888 Olive grey

RLM 73 = #896 German cam. Extra dark green

RLM 74 = #867 Dark Bluegrey

RLM 75 = #869 Basalt Grey

RLM 76 = #907 Pale Blue grey

RLM 79 = #843 Cork Brown

RLM 80 = #894 Russian Green

RLM 81 = #887 Brown Violet

RLM 82 = #823 Luftwaffe camo green

RLM 83 = #892 Yellow Olive

Like I said, not the most obvious names, but the colours are close and Vallejo quote them as being the RLM colours in their Chip chart. (well worth having by the way. Its not printed but painted with the actual paint. What you see IS what you get).

I have some comments on that list which might save someone some trouble.

RLM 05, described as 'German Yellow' is not the yellow most commonly seen on Luftwaffe aircraft. It was a pale yellow, sometimes described verbally as 'Ivory', if Vallejo got it right.

RLM 04, Gelb, was the yellow most commonly used and is a slightly goldish and much more saturated yellow. Take any decent yellow, add a touch of red and you're in the ball park.

RLM 66 was not a grey-green but a very dark blue-grey.

RLM 79 was the tropical sand colour that came in at least a couple of variations. I'm not sure what colour 'Cork Brown' is but the cork I most often see as I extract it from a wine bottle is nothing like RLM 79 !

Several of the others have rather curious descriptions, but at least they sound possible

So is RLM 05 actually RLM 04 ? They just got the RLM number wrong on that one?

What's in the bottle is actually a proper yellow not a pale ivory like colour ?

If I should try explain the colour, I would say that is sort of a Dijon mustard yellow. Kind of a weak yellow brown? LOL..... some one just said it looks like baby poop.

As for the propper Yellow I would go for the Flat yellow, its a nice rich egg yolk yellow (fresh egg that is).

It sure looks good sitting on one of those, but at €55 its a bit more than I would like to pay right now....(Just spent all my pocket money...again).

I might have a bash at scratching one if I can magic some plans up.... Hmmm

This is a nice kit, the canopies can be a challenge though. I look forward to seeing it when you are done Ian - it should look great on a good base.
