Just noticed I forgot the yellow stripe on the wings

there are no decals for this so its a paint job and due to it being curved you can't mask up so its free hand I'm afraid

Decals are on and just needs weathering

the antenna wire is a strand out of some cable I took out of an old computer , it's thinner than cotton and fits the scale better

        Ok nearly done now

weathering is done in oils to get that faded look , I used burnt umber for the exhaust stain and a mix of black and burnt umber for the upper smoke stain and black for the under side , in a couple of hours this can have a matt coat and she's done

Cheers John I'm glad you like it , it's a good kit although old and goes together well , I would imagine this would have been one of airfix best when it came out in 1974

Wow, now this is a matt varnish.

Great job on building and painting. I would have preferred a more clean underside, but that is my personal taste and may be distorted by the dark pic.

                        Cheers francesco I appreciate that

I like to see a grubby spitfire as you say it's personal taste and they look good either way

it probably won't look as good as before but better than a streaky dusty faded disappointment

Decals are now on and have settled back enough to photo

the only 1/72 decals I had spare were for a MkI Spitfire so now it's a made up spitfire, not what I wanted but will have to do
Tomorrow I will weather it again!

I hate it when something goes wrong just as you think you've finished. Good save though Alan.

Soon have another Spitfire on the shelf! How many is that now??
