I have to be honest Paul and say I still dont fully understand it. Cant get my head round that if its a GB that is put into the Clubhouse then is just one post/thread created that we all just keep posting all our builds on rather than individual threads that we presently do for each model. I am happy to try anything though especially if it benefits the forum as a whole.

What is classified as New Topics and what is the difference between it and Today's Post?

A new topic is a thread that has been started, todays posts are mostly new posts in an existing thread. Yes in theory a new topic is also a new post.
I have no idea why there are both.

Iโ€™m still not sure what is exactly being proposed.

If itโ€™s a separate, additional thread to run along side the individual build threads letโ€™s give it a go.

However if itโ€™s one monster, combined thread replacing individual threads then as Iโ€™ve already said Iโ€™m not in favour of it.

Perhaps some clarification and a poll would be useful.

              Geoff.

I think we will let that run as planed Paul.

Yes the idea is to keep the GBs but not as they are with topics that are so wide open that they are almost build what you want. This idea is to try get the GB's back to a more focused type of build. The Suggested PBI suggestion a fair example. It Focuses on the good old Infantrist.
An other example is the suggestion Paint it Black. Anything and everything all types of genre heaped in a GB with 20 people building 20 different things. Not as much of a 'group build' more a free for all... And a better candidate to a club build.
Why in one thread? to keep it as a group where the banter can flow and fun can be had just as if we where sitting around a table at a club house.

That is not what this is about. Whats on the bench is just what you are up to for your own amusement. This would have some form of common denominator if but a vage one.

Well in a way it is both. A normal GB format for the more focused themes which are more clearly defined. Each person with their own thread of their build, lots of photos and updates, not too much chit chat.
The club table will be ONE thread per subject which is more open to interpret as you like. Paint it black a perfect example, it even says you can build anything as long as the predominant colour os black. The Person that suggests the subject just like before hosts the thread as the thread starter and people can just dive in as the want. Post pictures, chat about the build, the weather, tell a joke, Help each other on the spot if there is a problem.

Does this clarify things at all?

                  Not really

So there will be 2 ways of doing a gb?

Yes, the more focused GB the same as before, each person having their own thread The club builds things that are a good idea with some interest but are far to vague. PBI is focused so a normal GB format. A build where you can build pretty much anything to the club table.

As a spectator, I personally find the 'wider' GBs much more interesting. When they are specific, (using a hypothetical example that I hope hasn't been done to avoid insult) i.e. a 1/350 Liberty Ship GB, I am unlikely to look through 10+ different threads of Liberty Ships. If it was however, an Atlantic Convoy GB (There's an idea......!) I'd love to see U-Boats, Liberty Ships, Destroyers, Cruisers etc and everyone's different ideas, rather than the same x10.

Saying all that, I've only participated in a couple of GBs so have less of a say.

Must admit I'm finding it all a bit confusing. I've never been part of a modelling club so maybe that's the reason.

I like the way we currently do GBs but do find I have lots of chats to follow and look at to see how my fellow GBers are doing. I often miss loads of them, so maybe this would help.

But I am confused over what GBs would stay as they are and which would go the new way.

Anyway I'm happy to follow others and participate either way. Maybe trial the new method on GB coming up soon.
