    Bobs 1/35 Type 90 Tank

    Hi All

This is my entry into the GB. I will be building the Japanese Type 90 Tank with mine roller. I will however start this build very slowly maybe in a few months time, as I have some other projects that need to be completed first. But in any case here is the kit.

    Build Plan
I will build the kit OOB, the plan for now is to try and build the mine rollers separately but that might change. Weathering will be minimal as I like modern tanks to look clean.

    Kit Details from www.scalemates.com
    Brand: Tamiya
Title: Japanese Type 90 Tank with Mine Roller
    Number: 35236
    Scale: 1:35
    Type: Full kit
Released: 1999 | Rebox (Updated/New parts) based on Tamiya Kit 35208 released in 1996

    Kit Contents

Well thats it for now. Will hopefully start on this in the next few months.

This is a great kit to build, the chains on the rollers are a bit of a pain but its worth it, ill be watching to see what you can do with it.

Thanks all, I will keep the chains in mind Scott, and see how I go when I get to them.
Well here is the first build update, usually I do a bit more before I do an update, but have been busy with a few other projects, so here is all I have for this one.

I have sanded and primed the wheel halves, I have not glued them together as wish to detail them first, then put them together.
I have also completed the lower hull and primed that too.
I have weathered the vinyl tracks a bit as well.

First off the primer I am using - Rustoleum 2 X Ultracover Flat White Primer. I like to prime my models white and then highlight with black paint - as opposed to the more common method of priming with black and highlighting with white paint.

                  Here are the wheels

The tracks are being washed with Vallejo Desert Sand wash.

                  The lower hull constructed

                  and primed

I will add some pigments to the tracks later using Tamiya Weathering master sets and paint up the wheels - which will probably take me quite a lot of time as it always does.

The tracks, wheels and sides of the lower hull will be painted done up and then masked off, with the rest of the kit then constructed and joined on top and primed as a whole.

I hope you all liked the update. All comments welcome.

Thanks Monica, Ian and Patrick. Monica and Patrick - I would like to thank both of you for suggesting the circle template as it has helped me immensely with this build.

Here is the next update - alot of work done - this picture will say it all. This took me most of the week to get done.

I used the circle template to do the wheels - so thanks again for that suggestion Monica and Patrick - it has worked wonders. Once the wheels and lower hull were painted they were put together.

Once the wheels were done - its pretty much smooth sailing onwards

                          Upper hull started

Doing the front headlights - It said paint them white - I chose not to do that and will use bare metal foil with some microsol klear to make the glass. Here I am using micrsol klear to make the glass portion of the headlight

Here it is next to the back of the headlight which has been filled in with bare metal foil.

Upper Hull complete - I will leave the hatch covering the tools off as I wish to show off the tools. I will still paint it up and have it there so I can always just put it over the tools if I wish

Turret complete. All the tools and boxes and Jerrys will be done separately.

                          Tank with upper hull

                          With Turret on

                          Prime Time!

Lots of work still left to do, I need to paint the tools, the mine roller needs to be built and offcourse painting weathering
