As I say, I'm no expert, but I'm going by what I remember reading from someone in the RA in the 80s who painted Chieftains.

This is what I think of as a NATO Chieftain

In real scale they are painted two shades of green but the darker shade does look almost black and its a nightmare to apply as its usually brushed on as its to thick to spray due to its IR reflectivity

NATO black is a very dark green, although I think the actual colour of the lighter green is bronze green?

Go mad & paint it pink Bob!

Haven't updated this thread for a while, but I have been working.

Got a lot of weathering done, including muddying up the wheels and arches, adding some dirty streaking, chipping and some rust on the exhaust pipes. Tonight I gave it a dust coat of khaki.

                  Tonight's activity: Figure Painting.

                  I'm still struggling with eyes.

We all find the eyes hard to do Bob. One thing to remember for the future is removing the mould seam lines - you can clearly see them on the hands.

Other than that, your crew looks good.

I realised that when I was painting them, by that stage I couldn't be bothered. Lesson learned for next time.

1/35 armour is something I haven't tried since I was twelve, I have Trumpeter's plough fitted Challenger in the loft so should give it a go some time. I have a plan for my builds this year so it won't be any time soon.

Acrylics, although I will probably go over with an enamel wash tomorrow to pick out some of the uniform details.

The berets are dark green, although the headphones are black. The instructions called for black uniforms but I preferred the green.

The green overalls are fine but a tankie wearing a green beret arghhh !

Standing by for friendly fire LOL

Been there mate! And even after I thought I'd scraped & sanded them all off.
