Colin's English Electric Lightning 1/32 Trumpeter

I'm ready for this I want to do a bare metal finish using the foiling method enclosed are a selection of photo's model includes eduard cockpit details a 1960's depiction of a nato pilot couldn't find a RAF jet fighter pilot model from that era so here's hoping it all comes together and works as you can see the fusealage will need stretching by about 5mm to prevent the scrunched up appearance hence the 2 drawings

    Regards

Ok peeps made a start on it by sawing it in 2 then inserting a 5mm gap to correct the fuselage length and stop the finished model look cramped thats the idea anyway see for yourself 1st set of pictures as always comments good and bad are welcome

Ahh! hacking and extensive modifications on a Trumpeter 1.32 Kit! I did the same with my Bf 109G-2 from Trumpeter in 1/32 as it's engine was undersized.
Good luck with this mate, hope the modifications turn out all right.
It's always fun throwing a slew of Aftermarket at a base kit like this isn't it? Btw, just by looking at that amount of AM, do you have a Photo etch bender? You will definitely need it for the exterior set.
        Cheers, John

Yes I do I have the Speed 5 I think it's called which I purchased last year for use mainly for the card models little pieces of detail like seats and tables for the Hindenburg that I am trying to build and not having a lot of should we say enthusasium for which is why I went for a group build to give me something else to focus on if that makes any sense

Finally finished sanding the join line smooth and the conduit underneath now need to restore surface detail lost during the sanding process

I thought I had already posted this part on the forum but can't find no trace of it so appologies if I have double posted

Nice work Colin. I'd get some primer on it just to see if it is all ok.

This is not exactly one of Trumpeters 'A' team kits, sadly, so it certainly has some challenges for you. I will follow this with a lot of interest, you have made a great start Colin.

How does a manufacturer get it so wrong ? Good job Colin is here to fix it.

Trumpeter are one of those manufacturers who make really good kits and really really bad kits, eg, their Westland Whirlwind in 1/48 is a modelling disaster, while their 1/32 Me 262 is arguably their best model they have made and it was ranked as No.4 in Model Airplane International's Top ten models.

Small update with what seems the most popular mod in any scale namely the drilling out of the apu exhaust and some sort of tube inserted to give it depth

Well when in Rome do as the Romans would so I have here's my take on it will paint black inside later

Fantastic stuff Colin , I really love the challenge of bashing a duff kit into shape and Frankenstein like surgery like this is so rewarding when youve done it and it makes a bad kit good, keep up the good work , cheers tony

Just finished building the basic ejector seat can't say I'm that impressed with it will need a paint job and after market jobs to bring it up to standard
