    Patrick's Academy 1/72 Ju 87 G-2

This will be my entry in Peter's GB. I'd like to do a larger scale Stuka, but time & space mean this one is best.

It's a lovely kit, the detail looks impressive for 1/72. I'm not sure about using the Academy decals, I've had problems with them in the past. Maybe I'll try painting them instead.

Thanks mate, but I think I have a sheet of swastikas in various scales somewhere. If I can't find it, I'll be on to you though!

I'm wondering about posing this one in flight, maybe with a Russian tank below it?

Along the lines at what Ron did with the kamikaze
That would be sweet idea ( have you a Russian tank in mind to pose ( t34??
I never knew how accurate the 3.2cm cannon was though? I think the Hurricane Mk2 with 40mm had varying success in the desert. I think with slower top speed the Stuka could manoeuvre and dive faster onto its target if that makes sense

I think a score of over 500 tanks destroyed by Rudel speaks volumes for both his tank plinking skills as well as the effectiveness of the Kanone Vogel.

The Hurricane were quite useful too, especially in North Africa. Both were much more effective than rocket firing aircraft like Typhoons - they could only manage 5% of hits even in practice.

From having read Rudels autobiography, he attacked Russian tanks from behind in a shallow dive. The shells would then penetrate the tanks engine deck. Knowing the Russian tank commanders preference of remaining 'buttoned up', they probably didn't know what hit them!

Made a start with the cockpit - didn't have any dark grey so I had to mix up some. I won't do much with the office because there's not much to see & it'll be buttoned up.

Cheers Doug! So far it's a nice little kit. I've got the fuselage together & I'm just about to squirt some paint to see if any seams need attention. Fingers crossed

It's a pretty simple kit Robert - more simple than the new tool Airfix ones I'd say. It'd be good if Airfix used the B-2 kit like yours & upgraded to a G-2 version!

I have so far found the Airfix new tool and there's a few variations of the B version you can build I think even the R version can be built. I'm defiantly going to get a G version some day

Nice work so far Patrick. I've seen some beauty Academy 1/72 G-1/2 Stukas on the net over the years, builds up quite nicely apparently. I have the Tamiya/Italeri one in my stash so interested to see the differences. Those decals don't look too bad.
