Completed +++ Ron's.....'Three Victoria Crosses at Nery' - September 1914

Here is my contribution to Brad's G.B.

I was a bit disappointed with this kit and intended getting something else for this G.B., but as time is a'pushing I've decided to tackle it.

The figures are not very good and a bit 'Wooden', and for the time of the action all the soldier's gear needs to be removed.

Due to its few pieces the gun went together in a couple of hours. Perhaps not one for the perfectionists, but as I know now't about such things I'm happy enough and it'll do me fine.

This morning I started on yer man strolling in the park!
Here he was....

Here he is. He looks like Marlon Brando in The Godfather. Chopped up with wire cutters, file and a modelling knife it's a bit rough, but this is only the initial work to remove all the gear and roll his sleeves up!

Next I'll hack his legs off and alter them to try to give him a bit more urgency!

Cheers all.
Ron

Ron, your attention to detail and "attitude" on this one is commendable.
I often myself alter figures that seem un-lifelike because without the senses of urgency or fear or despair or whatever emotion one strives to portray
ones dio no matter how well intentioned or thought out can fall flat in the end.
Watching this one for sure:thumb2:

Great start - have you thought about replacing the heads with Hornet heads? the fine details and expressions of those faces might really 'lift' the figures.

A nice entry to the GB. Good to see the hacking job on the figure. The result will be worth the work. Had any thoughts on the base yet?

I've finally managed to complete this build.

Here's the result.

Brush painted with Vallejo Model Air Acrylics. Figures butchered. The bloke's braces and bandage from strips of paper. Rubble, road sets and wall from bits and pieces. Shell cases from drilled out sprue.

Cracking work as usual Ron! Far superior to my version of the same kit.

Young Dave, what's all this superior nonsense? We both had a different idea how to approach this G.B., that's all. The kit was awful, so your statue/ memorial idea was spot on - Cover everything in metallic paint! Remember the FW109 G.B.? Another naff kit we both had. Yours ended up rising from the 'oggin, mine found in the woods. Different ideas to overcome the same problem again.

Cheers all and thanks again.
