Getting to be hard to find anywhere to hold this! Should've stuck all the fragile bits on the bottom first, but I was trying to alternate bottom and top so the cement could set without risk of disturbing it. Never mind, a bit of foam taped to the engine cover to give some clearance, then the whole thing taped to my vice:

Apologies for Britmodeller in the background!:rolling:

Did I mention that this thing has a lot of small sticky-out bits?

Just two more aerials to fit, then the tail rotor, a couple more lights, and the winch. Oh, and the searchlight and the IR pod, but I've broken a bit of the searchlight, and Revell haven't included the mounting for the IR pod!

Yet another problem! You can see in the last photo above, a recess in the nose that should house a light, as shown in a photo of the original at http://www.airliners.net/photo/Poliz...B/R/cyIA%3D%3D
At one point in the instructions we're told to paint the interior of this recess silver, so it seems a fair guess that there's a clear part to be glued in there, yes? Sure enough there's a clear part of the right shape, but it's shaded out on the sprue layout, and isn't mentioned anywhere in the instructions. Still, It's the only part that could possibly be intended to fit there. Only problem - it's too b****y small! We'll, it'll have to do, too small or not. I'll just try to fill the gap around it. On the bright side, I mentioned earlier that the instructions refer to two parts (aerials) numbered 86, but there was only one; checking over the parts remaining, I found an identical aerial... numbered 137.
I need something simpler to build. Anyone know a kit where things fit, and the instructions match the kit?

Pete

Good save on the landing gear Pete.:thumb2:
The decals look very nice and are really turning this in a very colourful birdie.:hugging-face:

Thanks Fernando! It is rather nice, just a pity the manufacturers make it such hard work. Maybe I should stick to Airfix starter kits!
I have a few of those in the stash, and a couple of Eduard aircraft... but the one that's begging to be built next is... wait for it... another Revell helicopter! Glutton for punishment aren't I!

Quite pleased with that.
Winch tomorrow.

You are doing a great job of beating this into submission, it is looking great.

Thanks Ian. You won't be surprised to hear that the winch is, umm, 'interesting'. Some of the parts bear little resemblance to the illustrations, and don't fit together well, but on the other hand, look at this cute little hook!

Isn't that lovely? Shame they didn't mould more of the parts that well.

Not sure if this should be in the GB thread or under "Completed Aircraft".
Well, I think I've stuck all the parts I'm going to stick, and painted all I'm going to paint, so here it is beaten into submission:

Not too bad I think, after all the problems.

Pete, that is spot on. One very nice build.

An excellent addition to the other finished helicopters for Ian's G.B.

Well done....

Ron.

Well despite all the problems and shortcomings of the kit this has turned out very well indeed.
