The legs have been coated and matt varnished ( except his shiny shoes!) and his kilt has been glued together around them. Next up for this part is the tartan !:anguished: Ive given his coat another coat of red and also painted his hat , the red /white and green check and black feathers . I might give these a slight blue sheen as thats what it looks like on the packet . Any advice from them wot knose about stuff like this is welcome ,( ie what sort of feathers were they , turkey , magpie , capercaillie??!) cheers tonyClick image for larger version

        Really coming along nicely Tony.

A touch of blue is a good way of highlighting blacks, as they do tend to reflect the sky colour. Perhaps a bit of dry-brushing to catch the highlights?

          Hi Tony,

Looking good so far, and looking forward to seeing how this one comes out. I've got one in the stash too, not quite as old as yours but old enough that the plastic has gone yellow! I really must get around to sticking it together.

They're ostrich feathers by the way!

          Cheers,

          Windy

Bit more done today, ive had a stab at painting his kilt , its not perfect but itll do for me , ive also given him some hair and eyes and im calling his fizzog finished. Ive now got to cut some strips from wine foil and spray them white for his webbing , the supplied plastic card is a bit too stiff. Cheers tonyClick image for larger version

Kilt looks very good. A dark, heavy wash might help mute it a bit.

Cheers jon , yes i thought it might benefit from toning down a little but was afraid i would smother it and it end up just looking a mucky blue colour, it does currently look like its fresh off the washing line though :smiling5: :smiling5:

I think the kilt looks fine Tony (and very well painted) - I like a bit of colour.

Little bit more done today . Ive stuck his hat on his head and added the peak. Im calling his head done after i highlight his ostrich feathers ! The jacket has had a second coat of red and ive picked out the white details round his buttons ( plackets?) and on his cuffs and collar . This needs a bit more tidying up and then ill do the buttons with the dotting pen .Click image for larger version
