I do like these Hasegawa 1/32 190's and there is a lot to be said for their approach of giving us a good sound no frills kit. I look forward to seeing how this develops, a great start.

Barry i think this is a great kit. As you say it's a no frills kit. But should you want to go the extra mile with AM stuff then there is a ton of things out there for it.

I'd love to do a comparison build with the new Revell 190

You do all that work on the engine then it's hidden away with very little to be seen of again. Oh well.I know it's there even if no-one else does

Finished the props and spinner today too apart from the spiral (which be added later)

Started fitting the fuselage and wings together. Bit of a surprise but there are actually fit issues with the kit! I know! Shocked me too lol. I tried fitting the engine module to the fuselage but it actually didn't fit correctly around the wing leading edge/engine cowl mounting point. So i'm going to have to doctor it a little. Nothing drastic but just a bit of a shock. Never had that last time i built a Hasegawa 190.
Dry fitted the wings to the fuse to and there is a little gap at the rear but it's nothing a little filler won't sort out.
So waiting for it to dry and then will bang it all together. Only other slight issue i have to sort out is a well known fault with the Hasegawa 190. The flap tabs are molded at 90 degrees so the flaps hang straight down. This wasn't true on the real aircraft and so i will have to manipulate the tabs to a 45 degree angle for realism. Starting to look like a proper aircraft now

Did a little more today after work. Fitted the engine components and the wings. Gaps will be filled later. Went to have a look at the flaps and found that some of the locating tabs have been broken off. Cannot see them in the box so don't know when it happened. Certainly wasn't me. Honest guv'!
Will have to bend the remaining tabs to 45 degrees and figure out how to fix the flaps securely to the wing because of the missing tabs.

Also got an idea to bore out the MG17 barrels for the upper cowling. Started with a 0.5mm drill pilot hole and then opened out with a 0.7mm drill. Looks ok. Not sure it will be seen when fitted unless you look closely but, it might provide a little more realism.

Fitted gun cowl with bored out barrels. If i do say so myself, looks better then i thought it would.

Also fitted the flaps with a little super glue to ensure they don't move. Time will tell though

Cheers Ian. Once the wings are on it's time to tackle the undercarriage :dizzy:

                                Thanks Steve & Pete

Amazing that little details like that can just transform something. Surprised me if i'm honest. But glad i did it now. Will have to see if the 20mm cannons are solid. If they are then they will get the same treatment.
