    Falklands, 1982 Group build chat

Greetings and a happy new year to everyone,

As it will be 40 years since the Falklands war, I thought this is a date we should mark. Hence a group build.

    As for participants, so far we have;

    Colin M
    Steve Airborne1
    Peter Gillson
    Joe Flyjoe
    Jon Heptonstall
    Mark Mark1
    Lee Drennen
    Richard rtfoe
    Ian M Mr. Muddle
    James Ancientmarina
    Ian papa695

Of course if anyone else wants to join in, please do.

Ian M suggested some 'rounded' dates of 1st April to 30th June, a nice straight forward three solid months. So we will use these dates.

What can we include in the build ? Well if he or she was present, or it was used in or around the Falklands, that'll do.
I wouldn't be too fussy about markings, eg, if you are building a Harrier, it would be great to see accurate markings, but if you can only manage to build a Harrier, then that will be fine, just don't load it up with Sea Eagles.

Please do set up your own thread for your builds, and use this thread for general chat / questions etc.

    Happy building.

I read that the Canberra was used which would have been my victim, I mean candidate. Upon digging deeper to fine out which one, It would seem that the plan was dropped! Bugger, I'll have to find sumit else.

Depending on how fast I finish (or temporarily abandon) the things I already have in mind to build in the near future, I may join this with a Hobby Boss LVTP-7 in Argentinian Marines service — I bought the kit 10+ years ago with that subject as my first idea, but have never gotten round to actually putting it together.

Lvtp7 was my plan to, ordered the hobby boss. Feeling I ordered the wrong one though, later type so the plan might change yet.

You would need the very earliest type, kit No. 82409:

The hobby boss seems hard to come by,plenty in China but to much with delivery costs, so found an academy kit hopefully up to the job.

IIRC that’s essentially a copy of the Tamiya kit. As long as it has the round headlight guards, like above, instead of the later rectangular ones, it’s the right version.

Well here’s mine and it actually says on the box it in the Battle of the Falklands. This is just the old rebox of the Airfix kit. Click image for larger version

The Argentines did use Canberras in combat against the British forces who landed on East Falkland…it must be true because my dad was on the receiving end and told me all about it.

I’d like to participate but my build speed won’t see me finish in three months. At any rate, I’m building a Sea King HC4 for my local club’s GB.
