    PaulE's 1/87 Cornerstone P-51D

They're packaged as a twofer, Rick has the other one. I'll prolly do the OD one "in flight" w/aftermarket pilot(one of the ones shown)
    Box art.

No Sweat......I was following your build on the T-bolt and it looked like you had a pretty good "handle" on it. :thumb2:

Not a brand I'm familiar with, but it looks ok in the box.

Cornerstone is the house brand for Walthers. They are a very old mail order model railroading company famous for their huge catalog.

.....and so it begins. Better late than never. Determined to do better this time, I began w/wheels up lower wing assy. making sure of undercarriage door fit. I'm again going with the spinning prop illusion & aftermarket pilot as the model did not supply one. My only criticism of the model so far is the office. No stick, dashboard or sidewall detail as well as mounting the floor too high. I added a simple dashboard but the pilot required major surgery to fit under the canopy. Completed lower wing assy. & fusalage assy. dry fit.

Still haven't started on this so you.re way ahead of me Paul......I really haven't looked at the kit-structions so all this is news to me.
Glad you are making progress on this and keep me posted as to any other foibles you might come across. :thumb2:

Construction complete except for prop disc/hub due to decal fitting. Lower vent needed some sanding to fit, but all else fit exact. Paint next, then decals as shown..

Wow, that was quick......didn't even get a look at the office before you closed it up. 'Sokay coz I'm sure I'll figure out a way to make mine a more complicated build......it's what I do. :thumb2:

Not much office to see, and even less w/canopy on. Got first coat of OD on last night should finish paint after work.

A little too close. Will do better after decals.
