Thank you all so much for your comments........in a nutshell.......Years and years of working to a thousandth of an inch....both in Aviation sheet metal and later on in the Telecommunications industry, fabricating computer chassis and disc drive housings etc., during my layoff from Aviation. Paul, The Grills came from Details Associates PE set for the G.E. 40-B locomotive, set # is GR 2718 they fit without modification. The rear screen is an etched sheet Mfg. by ABER p/n S01 it is .006" thick, very fine mesh and I bought it in the '90s......still have about 4 sq. inches left from a 12 sq. in. sheet. :smiling: Rick H.

Wow is all I can say Mr. H. I swear that second pic looks like it could pass for a 1/35 scale. Excellent work and weathering especially in this scale.

When I wasn't looking, the "Rooskies" all piled on and tried it on for a "fit"........'fraid my fancy grill and screen work will be mostly obscured...Click image for larger version

So, so tempted with the 'at least .......' bit :smiling5: but it'll show between the bodies, creating a fuller look

I gave the cast gun mount and mantle the Mr. Surfacer treatment......then stippled both with a stiff bristle brush to bring up the pigment to simulate the rough casting. I used 500 for the bigger mount and 1000 for the mantle. Who says your turned gun barrels have to be aluminum? Not I......used a length of plastic tubing chucked up in my drill press with a snug fit piece of music wire down the bore....supported the muzzle end in a bench block with the proper dia. hole......flat file and a few revolutions later........voila!Click image for larger version

I'm OK Allen, I'm presently concentrating on boxing in all the cutouts I made on the engine decks so as to give the impression there is more behind the grills than just "air". ...then its on to the rest of the details....did you notice the molded in equipment boxes on the mudguards? sad........Thanks for stopping by and good luck with your build. Rick H.
