Started the decals yesterday , first off the wing roundels . They have a seperate red dot to avoid the problem of misalignment so the main roundel has a large white area in the middle — which was very translucent ! I quickly whipped the decal back off and onto its still wet backing paper and off to the spare decals box for some white to put on first. I found some suitable decal and punched out four white discs ( 2 for the wings and 2 smaller for the fuselage) with the hollow punches .The white discs helped eliminate the see through white areas of the decal .The decals arent brilliant ,with a bit of poor register and slight white outlining in places but im using them anyway. No stencils or other airframe markings are included which at this scale I can get away with , except for the prominent red outline ‘no step’ boxes on the wing tops. A suitable donor was found in the form of some old Academy P47 thunderbolt tail markings with red and white stripes. Several thin strips of the red were cut off and placed one at a time to make the box and diagonals.
here it is , next up a coat of klear to seal everything in then once dry a coat of matt .Comment

Got the matt coat on today after a quick highlight of the control surfaces with a black wash ,then a fine misting of Tamiya XF86 Flat clear . Not much left now , just machine guns , the molins gun , landing lights ,whip aerial and a bit of weathering / exhaust stains then unmask the canopy and nav lights and we’re done .Comment

Well this ones crossed the finish line , the last few bits have been done . I added the exhaust stains on the nacelles ,fitted the carburettor intake grilles , fitted the machine guns and molins gun , a whip aerial from a paintbrush bristle and de masked the canopy and nav lights.
The underwing landing lights were added using some diamante jewels which came off a blouse my daughter in law was throwing out , suitably cut to size and fitted in the holes . The fighter / bomber versions of the mossie have a distinctive central windscreen wiper so that was added from a couple of tiny pieces of black paintbrush bristle. Thanks to Ian for suggesting this GB , heres a few to finish this thread , ill put a ‘completed‘ thread on later with more pics . Thanks for watching cheers tonyComment
