OK. So a bit more progress. Wings and other sticky out bits on and so it's beginning to resemble a plane at last!!!

I hadn't appreciated on the tailplane how far forward the vertical stabiliser on Mossie was in comparison the horizontal ones. In my admittedly very limited experience, I'm used to them being in line with each other.

I'm just in the process of painting the internal canopy frame lines! What were thinking of!?!?!?!?!?!?....clearly didn't think of your friendly scale modeller when coming up with the idea, especially at 1/72!!

If those canopy bars are like the 1/48 ones you’ll have trouble finding them, let alone painting them…..

Indeed..... Actually in my case they're done like a very narrow 'trench' for want of a better phrase. Will try to post pics when I have a minute.

The 1/48 ones were the same Andrew, but were so shallow i ended up with loads of overpainting. It took ages to clean it up with a sharpened cocktail stick afterwards…..

Know exactly what you mean. I had three goes at in the end before I was happy. In the end it was almost like capillary action with thin paint, with a bit of after-party toothpick action!!

It's still far from perfect but once the external frames are done and at a normal viewing distance without the benefit of an optivisor, it should blend in a bit more. Plus there's no guarantee a fourth attempt will be any better!! :cold-sweat: :cold-sweat:

Pics below....obviously the macro lens on my camera kicked in! And that is my little finger in the background for scale effect!

Not by best work but I was running out of patience with it.....

They look fine Andrew. Even in 1/48 they are hardly noticeable…

Respect Andrew and especially in 1/72 too!!! This is really coming on nicely with the little touches. I didn't even see any on my canopy, let alone attempting to paint them on the inside. Wow!!! The macro pics came good and clear. I did run your fingerprint through a police program though, and found out you are wanted in seven countries over here........

You've done a lot of research, experimenting and head scratching and you gotthere in the end. I would be more than happy with the end result.

Nice work with the canopy :thumb2:

                      I’ve “cheated”with mine and used a pre-cut mask set :smiling5:

                        Morning Gents!

Firstly apologies for not being aorund much in the past couple of weeks and not commenting on all your excellent work as much as i'd like. Work has been very busy recently ahead of a HQ visit this coming Monday (I work for a large overseas company) and on Thursday didn't finish until 10pm..... :loudly-crying: :loudly-crying:

Secondly thanks as always for the support, it appreciated!!

Lee - when I checked and saw you must have individually 'liked' about 15 of my posts I was very touched, so thank you

Tim - interestingly the frames are actually more visible in real life but very fine as you say......I can only assume the camera picked up too much of the canopy reflection.

Allen - thanks for the support.....without an optivisor I would not be contemplating doing anything like this in a month of Sundays.....as for being wanted in your country, I'll just have a word with my contacts and I'm sure they will mysteriously disappear!

Jim - Thanks. It's not quite 'perfect' under extremely close scrutiny and but to see it you have to get the angle just right and be directly above or below, so from a normal viewing angle/distance it will pass muster!

Geoff - I too have a mask set but mine only catered for the exterior..:loudly-crying::loudly-crying:

Thanks again chaps! Another very short update to follow shortly!!

                          Morning again all

So a very small but important update.....

Monday night was modelling group night and saw me starting work on the undercarriage (not enough to show you on that that though) plus the fixing on the the canopy, meaning LP is all buttoned up!!

                          Next up some black primer!

All that painstaking research and experimenting has certainly paid off....... BRING ON THE PRIMER !!

Sorry I overwhelmed you with the “Likes” but I read your whole thread and was very interesting and you deserved it. I know some people frown on given so many likes but I just don’t go through every page giving likes just to catch up I actually read them. I know the people who complain about that so I stopped looking at there treads completely. Keep the updates coming.

I was not overwhelmed in the slightest..... Rather I was genuinely humbled that you took the time to read every post - especially as I do tend to waffle on. So thank you again!!!
