After the last update I sprayed black along the seams to identify any areas that needed a bit more attention.
As I thought there were a little bit of extra filling/ sanding needed :rolling:.

I also finished the fiddly job of masking the canopy. This has then been temporarily glued into place with PVA glue.

Once I reached the “good enough” stage with the seams any lost details were rescribed then it was finally time for primer.

An all over coat of Stynlrez grey primer was applied which has left a nice smooth finish. I’m leaving it to fully cure now before I try a bit of pre-shading.

Not to long to go before I can finally get some paint on it.

    Thanks for looking :thumb2:

Looks like all the fitting and fettling is paying off Geoff. You’ve got a nice smooth canvas to work on.

        ....... it most definitely is.
It's a kit which needs a fair bit of work but with your skill and patience I reckon you'll have a great model in the end.

            Hi guys,

I usually prime with black and then do a sort of black basing thing.

Thought I would try a bit of old school pre-shading this time around.

Then once dry it was time to get the top coat on.
I used Hataka H0024 PRU Pink which went down reasonably well.
It seemed to dry on the tip of the airbrush more than Vallejo model air which is my usual paint of choice necessitating the addition of some acrylic retarder to the paint cup.
It did leave a nice smooth surface though so worth the effort.

I’m going to have to be a bit of a tease now :tongue-out:
I had intending taking a couple of pics before masking it ready for painting on the d-day invasion stripes but forgot so here it is all masked up.

I’ve partially done the stripes, well the black segments so not too long before all is revealed.

Another update soon, thanks for looking :thumb2:

Coming along now eh Geoff ?
Like the use of the kitchen roll for masking
There's that "Hataka" stuff mentioned again! I've been considering trying some of that,(they do some nice looking aircraft sets),sounds like you are impressed with it?!
Looking forward to seeing the great reveal when the "masking" is removed, good stuff mate

                    Thanks chaps :thumb2:

Just the tricky part of measuring and masking the stripes now .

I’m a bit on the fence regarding the Hataka paint Andy. The finish is nice enough but they were a bit more awkward to spray. It may well be that I just need to get used to how to use them properly. The colours seem pretty good though from what I’ve seen and they have some handy sets.

                    Geoff.

                      Hello chaps,

On the finishing straight now :smiling4:

I’ve finished painting the invasion stripes and am pleased with how they turned out.
I found that the approx size for 1/72 is 6mm which made the masking job a lot simpler.

So here it is after all the masking has been removed.

A quick word regarding the colour, from what I have read the colour is supposed to be a very washed out pink. More hint of pink rather than a vibrant colour as it is supposed to have blended in with dawn/twilight sky. I think Hataka have captured what I imagined it to be very well.

I will give it a coat of clear later once the paint has fully cured to protect the paint and get it ready for decals.

Another update soon, thanks for looking :thumb2:

The decals are rather brittle and have decided they don’t like water :rolling:

I had hoped to have it mostly done this week but as I didn’t have any suitable spares I am waiting for a replacement set to arrive.

                        Geoff.

                          Geoff!!
That's a shame, happens to us all at some point though
Just a quick point if I may..... If you have a minor disaster requiring replacement bits, it's worth giving it some air on here..... Someone can normally help, saving you needing to buy a complete pack of stuff with lots of items that you don't need!!
For example,I have several of those roundels that you need that I could have sent you
