A guy I watch on YouTube who works with clay uses the textured fingertip of a nitrile glove to apply skin effects, might be worth trying.

And I figured why not throw some colour at him,
Firstly a splash of RLM yellow to help with highlighting.
And onto the Vallejo Chrome Green... worked better than I thought it would..
Managed to hide the tiny seam line I forgot to correct...
finally a bit of work on his eyes..
Still looks 'glossy' as it's covered in a satin varnish.....to protect the paint a bit....
I may throw a thin wash of darker green on it yet...haven't made my mind up on that...Comment

It seems a little to the yellow side, if I'm any judge. But going off the comic book color, just a wee bit of darker green to soften it up a bit might tend to make it pop. I love the work on the eyes they really express that "sinister" look that is portrayed in the pulp pages! well done Chris!Comment

That’s starting to look very good. The seam isn’t as obvious as I had feared, and that bright green is sure to draw attentionComment

Thanks guys, I'm really enjoying this build,
As for colouring, I'm basing it around the Ian Kennedy Mekon..(as that was the one I grew up with..)... the link below shows how he used to go about drawing /painting his version.. it's well worth a look..
