    Hello Chaps,

    Another quick update :smiling4:

The cockpit and engine have been finished.

The wiring added to the engine was trimmed and bent into position before the parts were cemented into place. A wash from Tamiya Panel liner has helped define some of the details and some of the bolts have been highlighted with silver paint.

The cockpit has had the various decals added, along with some dirtying up with a wash.

The seatbelts are 3D decals which I thought would be better than PE however now they are in place I’m not that impressed

The build should go together quite quickly now the fiddly parts are done.

Hopefully another update soon, thanks for looking :thumb2:

              Thank you Andy :thumb2:

The seatbelts aren’t bad but I expected a bit more body to them. I suppose they would look out of scale if they were too thick

                    Hello chaps,

                    Quick update.

The build has been ticking along nicely.

Some dry fitting/fettling neede but the arts have all gone together with no big problems.

One thing I had to sort out was the kit comes with parts for x2 auxiliary fuel tanks. From all the reference photos I’ve seen the FAA version had either no extra fuel tank or x1 central one (as seen below) which wasn’t provided.

I presume the x2 tanks was what the U.S. Navy used.
Which left the problem of the two holes in the underside of the fuselage.

I glued the pylons into place.

Then trimmed and sanded them flat and filled the gaps with a bit of Perfect Plastic Putty.

The seams have all been checked and it’s now all ready for priming.

Well with the end date in sight I thought I’d better get cracking so that I can finish in time :smiling4:

After the last update it was primed, and once dry given the top coat.

The upper camo was done with Vallejo MA 71.309 Dark Slate Grey and 71.110 Dark Grey.

I’ve added an extra aerial in front of the cockpit as shown on the decal /paint guide but not included in the kit.

Meanwhile the underside was given a coat of Vallejo MA 71.302 Sky type S.

A couple of touch ups needed before a clear coat later ready for the transfers.

                      Thanks for looking :thumb2:

                      Geoff.

I’ve left some of the smaller stencils off, the instruction sheet placement numbers didn’t seem to correspond with the numbers on the decal sheet so I was struggling to make any sense of them :anguished: .

I also had a fight with the carpet monster (I lost :rolling after knocking off and losing the forward antenna. I gave up looking in the end and made a new one from a section of square stryrene rod.
So only weathering and flat coat and the final few small pieces to attach now before I can call it finished.

Another up soon, thanks for looking :thumb2:

                                Geoff.
