I remember. Always made the rolled edges more defined.

      Scottie

Apologies missed the start of this. You've made a great start already but can't help noticing the OOB intention failed at the first hurdle!

Indeed it does Paul, it was those details that made his work stand out.

I have had 5 goes so far at replacing the grill and headlight guards. All of which I was unhappy with, so I have left it for a while. And moved on the the cargo bed.

The tailgate had the moulded hinges removed and new hinges were fabricated from brass strip and copper wire. The hinge did work but I have glued it shut for strength.

The tool locker was also detailed by adding the catch and the round hinged bar at the top. the lip was also undercut to make the lip thinner.

Finally the hand/foot hold were made by flattening some copper wire and some punched rivets. They look a bit beat up but that's how I wanted them.

Great work Scottie. Thinning out mudguards etc is a nice improvement.
It's rather wonderful that so many of us do something when modelling and it makes us remember Simon.

Know what you mean Jim........I find myself doing that fairly often. Mr. T was my best critic when it came to improving my game in 1-87 scale. :thumb2:

work continues, I have added the catches, rings and chains to the tail gate. I have also added the lashing hooks included in the kit but not shown in the instructions.

Next work on the fuel tank. the kit came with a PE jacket for the tank but I bent it the wrong way and it snapped when I tried to sort it. So I made a plastic one to replace it. the wheel clamps had the moulded inserts removed and some etch ones made out of brass sheet. Next various bolt details were added.
