Aaarghhh! I knew it was going too well lol
I got the paint on today and was starting to assemble everything. The large side locker only has small mounting points so I decided to reinforce them with super glue. This is where my CA curse bit me.
Somehow, after adding a few drops via a rats tail to the underside of the truck I managed to get 4 blobs on top of the bonnet. I've still no idea how it happened! Anywhere else and I could have disguised it with mud or something, but such is Murphys Law.
Anyway, that left me with this mess. Gutted is an understatement:
After a good weep, and kicking our imaginary cat all around the garden I set about fixing it.
First off was a good bout of sanding to feather the area out. Starting with 400 and working down to 1500 with my cut down Infini sticks:
I didn't bother with any masking, I was just careful where I directed the airbrush. I built up the layers of different shades again and was chuffed with the result.
Not perfect but good enough:
After recovering from that trauma I assembled the rest of it. Now ready for decals etc. It looks a bit light with the black background but it'll darken down with washes and stuff:

Thanks all.
I did consider hiding it with a tarp for a moment lol, or there's an aftermarket bonnet blanket available :smiling5:
I've just noticed that the notek light has suffered a bit, another little fix needed. Oh, and the passenger side mirror has been refixed 4 times now. I'm going for a record.Comment

Great save with that CA blob. We would never had known if you didn't spill the beans. lol.
As for the odd light and mirror getting busted, real life scars on such a big brute of a truck. When I can I always add 'snap offs' right at the end.Comment

Well saved, Andy, from the CA blobs. We've probably all done something similar, used similar bad language and taken a deep breath and sorted it.
The driver needs somewhere for his sauerkraut butties and pilsner :tongue-out3:Comment

Cheers guys. A bit of a heart stopping moment when I saw it, but it was an opportunity to get the airbrush out again I guess.
Decals are going on today. They're taking a while to settle down so I made a start on a simple base, carving & stamping out some 6mm XPS foam. Hopefully it's something I can use to display future vehicles, as I doubt many will be bigger than this, so I'll try and keep it fairly generic.

Blimey,I look away for a week and it's practically finished!!!:flushed:
Looking excellent Andy,as for the little "mishap", well,if I hadn't read about it in the earlier posts,I'd never have noticed :thumb2:,the Panzer looks really nice too mate.
Scribing that base must've taken some patience, well worth it mind, it's come out great with the paintwork,
Cracking stuff this!Comment

Thanks Andy, that's actually just the bare foam, I haven't started painting it yet.
I scribed out the kerbstones but the rest was punched out using this set I bought some years ago. They can just be pressed into foam, but will cut shapes in thin styrene with a tap from a hammer. I've even used them as scribing templates.
I need to press on with the truck now. I always struggle with washes, weathering etc and given the size of this it's even more daunting than usual lol.Comment
