Nice progress Ian, just persuaded swmbo that another Scania for Christmas is a good idea so I don’t waste the conversion kit

Just a heads up to others, KFS resin is very greasy! Even after a warm bath in soapy water, a scrub with a soft paintbrush then a rinse and left to dry. They still dont like paint that much. I have now washed off the parts I could with Meths. A good check I have discovered. White tac, elephant snot, call it what you will. If the part will not still on a blob og white tac when you mount it to spray....... it's not going to take the pant well.
Unfortunate for me I started with the wheels and chassis. Which I hand held. We will all see how bad it is once dry.

It really was/is weird. After the visit to the bubble bath, the parts looked and felt OK. But as soon as the paint hit them..... yikes.

As can be seen here the primer is being repelled in corners. Some places the primer is OK but others thin and patchy.

Guess which one is the plastic and which one the resin mud-guard.

Far from perfect but I think a quick wipe and maybe a second coat on the resin one. Only a problem really if I do them in the body colour, I could just do them black....

And this will be the last time I build up a full rear end then paint it! grr. That'll teach me.
Again only a real issue if I do the chassis body colour. Oh well.

Not that this has put me off but the next time I use stuff from KFS they will be very thoroughly cleaned.

The Nose took the primer well I am happy to report. And a little sneak peak at the motor.

Really need to start thinking of a colour soon.

ID:	1210276The base. Yet another fun painting exercise. Most of the parts really need painting befor they get built up but they just as much need to be built up befor they get painted!

You're making fine progress Ian. A good idea to first scribe the line to be cut with the razor saw. I find lighter fluid is an excellent degreaser. Just brush it on with a soft brush and it evaporates almost immediately. Deciding how much to assemble before painting is always difficult. I hate glueing together ready painted parts.
It's gonna be a stunner when it's finished.

Due to needing some clips to hold the parts for the crane, I threw the motor in.
Oh, after I had cut the cylinder heads off and put them on the right way up. whoops.

                      a few pipes to add yet and a couple of things need a touch-up. ( :smiling5: )
It's not going to be detailed motor wise as once build it will probably never be seen again...
So While the glue dries... lunch

Thanks Andy. I was looking for photos of the V8 and found out that the newer ones are orange, the earlier ones blue. So Orange it was!

                              Thanks Paul.

Must admit it looks a bit like a truck now and not just a heap of bits.

I painted a handful of plastic spoons with primer to do some colour tests...
There is a Metallic red on the way in the post, and I still have some pearl white... Thinking of either:
Pearl White over a silver base followed by a few coats of clear Red.
                              Or
Plain metallic red with a couple of coats clear red.
                              Or
Clear red over one of the following: Gold, Silver, Copper or Bronze
Hence the pile of spoons. I will post the tests and we can all have a laugh.
