If you want those chin straps to stand out a bit try outlining them in black. Should make them pop nicely. Don’t try to paint around them though. Paint the whole thing black, then paint the yellow leaving a bit of a border. It’s what I do on the little blokes to give them a bit more definition….l
That sounds way above my brush skills :tears-of-joy:

So, now I need to dig out my copy of Jedi for all the many MANY knobs and switches inside!
If you are looking for studio accuracy, you're watching the wrong build.

I'm watching the RIGHT build. Just not necessarily in the right order...

Oh, believe me, when someone says about ANY Star Wars model 'but that's not correct' , the best answer, from my late friend the professional model-maker, was 'which one in which film in which sequence are you looking at?"

Still, I do marvel at the sharp and snappy togetherness of these kits, and how well this is coming along
        BTW are the legs 'poseable'?

It looks that way, but they also include some parts to lock the joints in a set position, "when displaying the model for a long period of time"

Personally I'll be finding a pose I like and running a bit of cement in.

I've built up the waist / engine section:

I've also been painting the cockpit in between gardening duties. Not much will be seen once closed up, but since the roof just snaps into place I guess it could be removed

Very nice Andy, those colours on the uniforms look spot on. shame about having to hide all that gorgeous detail when the 'lid' goes on, I'm sure when i built mine I removed or cut down the pegs that snap it in place and ended up being able to lift it off the show the insides off..

So, why DO SF movie vehicles have so many lights and switches on their panels?

'Make those lights flash in sequence!’

Thanks Chris. I think I'll sand the pins for the roof a bit to make removal easier. All of the pins are incredibly tight, even the slightest drift of paint on them and it's a no go. Next time I'll cover the holes & pins with a blob of blue tack or tape, just to save all the clean up time!

Thanks John. A few were chosen from screen shots from the film, like the screens with yellow or green graphics, but some were from my imagination.

I've built one of the legs. I have to say this thing could get into some very strange positions! It must do yoga :tears-of-joy:

It should make finding an interesting pose on the base easier though.

That's the build phase out of the way. Now I can get an idea of size, scale & layout for the base, then take it apart again for painting:

Yes, he could be placed looking out of the top hatch.

I've been working through some ideas for the layout, Blue Peter style. I'm glad I always keep my foam offcuts!
