Mr Bowcat's 1/48 Bandai Raider AT-ST (The Mandalorian)

    Morning guys,

Another chicken walker I'm afraid, but I'm going to try and do something different and paint it as the Klatoonian Raider's version from S1E4 Sanctuary.

This is the kit (mods, let me know if I need to post sprue shots, there is already at least one thread here with these).

And this is what I'm trying to achieve

I'm not going to bother with the interior much, I've built this kit before (https://www.scale-models.co.uk/threa...-scnell.32040/) and know from experience that not much can be seen once it's done.

Right, cracked on with this build today. I decided to start with the cockpit/turret as I want to add a red LED light in there to mimic the walker from the show.

For those not familiar with The Mandalorian, the show is set some time after Return of the Jedi. This walker has been abandoned by the Empire and salvaged by Klatoonian Raiders. The Raiders standards of cleanliness and hygiene are not up to Imperial standards, which is reflected in the weathering.

Now I know I said at the top of this thread that I wasn't going to go mad on the interior, and I really haven't, but wanted to have some fun grunging it up.

Crikey, you could catch something nasty in there :tears-of-joy:

Looking forward to seeing it in your chosen colours.

        Hi Guys.

I've spent entirely too long trying to get a light into the cockpit/turret. When I built this before I ran wires down each leg and into the base, connected to a battery pack under the base. It was a massive PITA, so this time I wanted to keep everything enclosed in the head. End result is this tiny red bulb above the rear bulkhead.

The switch is neatly hidden on the bottom of the head (it's the small white part in the middle).

With that finally done it took about 2 hours to put the rest of the kit together.

          Morning guys.

Managed to push on with this quite a bit yesterday. The Raider version has some field modifications that were added, then everything was primed in black then over painted with the top coats. These were purposely added in a haphazard way in order to leave some shading from the primer, and get some modulation to hopefully show wear. The add on side armour still needs some other colours painted on, it's supposed to have been from scrap parts so I didn't want it to be the same Imperial grey.

Next up will be hand painting the Raider markings.

                Morning all.

Almost to the finish line with this one, I hand painted the Raider markings (they are supposed to look hand painted and rough), added the applique armour, did the detail painting and started on the weathering.

There's a few finishing touches to be done, and the base needs painting.

                    Looks great in those colours!

I'm already thinking about doing another in a what-if scheme, like the one you've linked to above.
