Aluminium paint was apparently changed to interior grey/green to save on aluminium useage. I think Hawker must have had someone in the stores dept who had put a stash of aluminium paint aside as it “might come in useful one day”

It made a nice change from the usual standard cockpit colours.

A bit more progress to report.

Seams all tidied up, rocket rails and IFF antenna added.
Airfix do include the stirrup used to help pilots access and egress the aircraft, unfortunately there is no place to attach it or were the hole to attach it should be drilled that I could see.
I tried drilling were I thought it should go but could not get the angle right.
As it is a retractable stirrup I decided to repair the hole and just leave it off :sad-face:
After this it has all been primed with Mr Surfacer 1500.

So sorry I missed this one, Geoff. I thought you were still sipping Pina Coladas on the beach! Don't know too much about these modern wing thingy's, but you are doing a fantastic job on this one Sir!!! The detail is great in 1/72 and leaving the gun bay open is a nice touch too. I'll try to keep up now. Living in 1917 is hard enough..........

                  Hello Chaps,

Sorry I’ve not updated for a while, unfortunately over the summer I completely lost any interest in getting any bench time ?

However I have been getting a bit done of late and now John has told me how to post pics I thought I’d better add a quick update as to where the build is up to.

Painting is all done, completed with AK Real Colors - Med Sea Grey for the underside while the upper camo is Ocean Grey and RAF Dark Green.

I’ve moved on to the decals now which is taking a bit longer than usual due to trying to get the spacing right for the invasion stripes.

No chance of me finishing it before the end of the GB unfortunately ?

                  Geoff.

Nice little kit isn’t it? And fun to build. I really enjoyed doing mine.
On the bench: Airfix 1/48 Sea King HC4, Revell 1/24 Trabant.
Coming soon: Airfix 1/72 Phantom FGR2.
Just finished: Airfix 1/48 Stuka & Airfix 1/72 Sea King HC4.

Cheers Arnie. Must be one of Airfix’s best recent 1/72 kits ?

Missed the start of this Geoff but just had a catch up. Looks a nice kit and it's come together well. Very nice paint job. Do you still intend to paint on the invasion stripes? Good luck with the decals.

Cheers Jim, yes I’m planning on hand painting them to give a bit of a rougher finish, hopefully they will turn out ok ?

There she is in paint. I fully understand what you mean about summer. There's always so many other things to steal your time. I'n a strange way, I look forward to the darker nights, just to get building again.

                        Hello Gents,

More progress to report, the transfers are all on now.

They are Cartograph I think so as you would expect settled down very nicely with a bit of Micro Sol and Set.
The fiddliest ones were the underwing roundels and yellow wing leading edge markings but this was mainly due to me gluing the rocket racks in place before painting. I won’t be doing that again with any future builds ?.

                        Here are the pics.

I’m going to give it a clear coat next to protect the transfers from the masking I’m going to do to enable the invasion stripes to be painted.

                        Thanks for looking ?

                        Geoff.
