Interplane rigging will be done when the wings are dry. After that, just remedial work on the underside where the cords come through, last of the decals and paint and varnish touch up…..then stick on the lose bits and hide it away never to be seen again

I had forgotten how finicky and fragile these things were. Running out of places to hold it right now. Only plus is that eze line stretches and doesn’t bend or break.

Mr. back from the dead Ketchup in the house and loving your progress Tim! A shame about the glue smear, but I'm sure you'll fix it. Knitting is looking good too and you are right about finding safe places to hold it. It's definitely a colorful wing thingy buddy!!!...

Cheers Allen. The smear is annoying, but nothing more. Matt varnish and a touch of paint hides many things . Mind you, I’d be really irritated on a gloss finish……

Looking very nice Tim , the colours look great . I had the same problem with mine - near the end it was difficult to hold without catching the rigging , like yours though mine was elastic so I didnt snap any !

Cheers Tony. Boggles the mind to think of the complicated rigging on early aircraft models….how on earth do they get built….

Not that difficult, but I made it harder than it needed to be. I was running out of ezeline so cut the threads on the top wing a bit short. If I’d made them about two inches longer each it would have been far easier to hold them in place while adding the glue. Done now though :thumb2:

For those that wondered…..this is how I held it while rigging.

I don’t think it would work for a bigger bird, but it’s fine for this size. The jigs you see around would be great for adding the top wing and making sure the struts were in line, but they would be no use at all for rigging because the various clamps would get in the way.

Anyway…..let the glue cure completely now, then shave down the glue points under the bottom wing, touch in any scrapes I’ve produced putting the rigging on, add the last crosses under the wing, then touch in the varnish. Once that is done then the missing bits get stuck on and we’re done. I can at least see the finish line now…….

Bet you're glad the rigging has been accomplished successfully.
