    Latest update.

I have give the wings, fuselage and tailplanes a second coat of H155 Matt Olive Drab. I quite like the slightly streaky finish so I won't be applying a third. I have decided to make the "Anzac" version which means that the white wheel covers had to be over-painted with Olive Drab:

I painted the cowling and front of the fuselage with H56 Aluminium. I also fitted the outer wing cabane struts to the lower wing (as opposed to the instructions which said to fit them to the upper wing). This should (fingers crossed) make the fitting of the upper wing a lot easier:

The centre cabane struts were glued to the underside of the wing. I have drilled holes in the top of the fuselage to make the fitting of the struts easier:

The top of the fuselage around the cockpit area was painted with H27 Matt Sea Grey:

Time to start rigging. The rudder/tailplane was rigged using one piece of thread which was glued on the underside of the tailplanes and then trimmed:

    That is all for now.

      Another little update.

I started a very long session of rigging and after doing the port wings, I thought I would stop as it had taken hours to get this far:

For some reason, I couldn't stop myself and continued rigging and it is almost complete now. I still have to do the rudder and elevator rigging as well as the wheel struts which have just been glued to the underside of the fuselage:

      That is all for now.

Very cool! I love this era. You have a lot of patience and skill to deal with that rigging!

              A bit more progress.

The rudder has been given a base coat of H34 Matt White in preparation for putting decal strips on:

The rigging holes were filled with Perfect Plastic Putty which will be easy to make smooth with a cotton bud:

Perfect Plastic Putty was smoothed over. The tail has been dry-fitted but won't be glued until after all decalling has been done:

              That is all for now.

My latest update on the Sopwith Pup.

The rigging of the undercarriage has been completed:

Rigging for the elevators has been fitted to the fuselage and rigging fitted to the upper wing. The plane was then Kleared in readiness for decalling:

I applied the decals but had problems with the small roundels and rudder decals falling apart, despite the use of Liquid Decal Film. The tailplanes and rudder were glued to the fuselage:

Another view. I may well remove the rudder decals and paint the stripes instead. We will see:

                  That is all for now.

I completed the rigging of the tailplanes, but still had problems with the rudder decals. I have run out of patience with them and have decided to leave them as they are. It is not as if the model is going on display, it is going straight into a box never to be seen again:

                        It is now finished:

Once again, thanks to Ian (papa 695) for setting up this GB.

Nothing wrong with that. Shame not to display it.
                              John.

Yes, it is a shame, John. However, I have run out of space to display models in my little cottage, so as soon as I complete a build it goes straight into a storage box. Perhaps if I win the Lotto I will be able to afford a bigger place to live in - and to display my builds.
