Renault 5 Turbo......tamiya 1/24

Will start it once the gb starts

Bit of history........prior to Group B rallying manufacturers were reaching the limits of 2 wheel dtive cars

Renaults car was based on the 5 bodyshell......mid mounted engine....rear wheel drive......2 seat......lots of body modifications.......proved to be quite successful

As per the rules they had to build a certain amount of road going cars for sale and this is one of those

One thing ive found during research is that it came in only 5 colours and the bumpers and lower mouldings on the blue and red ones were just a slightly different shade which looks horrible.....see the pic below......but theres plenty of resprayed ones out there........i like the red or white with black bumpers.....but we shall see how it goes

Kit is a recent issue that originally came out in early 80s so not much to it

A mate of mine had a GT5 Turbo Raider back in the 1990's, the thing was a bloody weapon, so quick (by the standards of that time).

Plan is to do it red but im in two minds to give it black bumpers or not

Sorry for lack of updates.....been a bit of a pain

Sprayed it red......didnt like the shade..... stripped it......resprayed with a different red.....bit thin so dudnt cover well.......stripped it .....grabbed a can of ferrari red......now need to give it a clear coat then do all the matt black bits

Ive been working on the interior so will post a pic when the seats are finished and installed

Had paint chipping off the body shell needing touch up
The seats were grey....theres decals so you can add coloured panels.....wasnt going to use them but changed my mind.......were a bit delicate and wanted to break up and then when i put a coat of decalfix over the top they went a bit discoloured........so they got painted matt black lol
