Yaks bought at cosford under a fiver build - eidai aero subaru

After masking up the subaru I decided to brush paint the red rather than mask up the whole thing and spray it. I used tamiya x7 gloss red straight from the bottle , giving it two coats with a couple of days drying time between. Unlike the matt tamiya acrylics the gloss seem to brush ok as long as you dont overbrush it and leave plenty of time between coats. Theres a bit of touching up /cleaning up to do where the paint has crept under the tape but its turned out quite well. Next job is decals then its the tricky application of the windows! Cheers guys, i was really pleased with the finish i got from the aerosol can , beautifully smooth and glossy without obliterating the very fine detail. Ive been out of action this last week or so ( pulled my neck!) so i havent been able to get any more done to this but its near the end now so shouldnt take much longer, cheers tony

Well despite looking like quasimodo i managed to get the decals on tonight. Despite being very old they went on fine except for the two long stripes, one of these breaking into 3 , the other one into about 6. I pieced them together and the only part that needs a touch up is under the port tailplane. The front of the stripes didnt wrap round the curve of the engine cowling so ive left it till the decals dry then ill either cut them square or try a bit of decal solvent.next job is the windows , cheers tony

Well the windows went in with not too much trouble ,although they werent the clearest of parts.The decal stripe has been sorted/touched up and the undercarriage and other final bits are on so im calling it finished. I really enjoyed the build , theres something about having to be so clean with civil subjects that makes a nice change.
