nowt wrong with that! wouldnt have thought it was your first build

as for washes, i dont like bought one cos i find them too thick.....i either use enamel paint thinned with white spirit or oils thinned with oil thinners, just make sure you have a glossy surface first then matt coat after its dry

so whats next on the bench?
    Per Ardua

We'll ride the spiral to the end and may just go where no ones been

Thanks, next up is an Airfix 1/76 Tiger II and a Panzer IV which are built, just need to start painting. And then after those two bad boys, i have a 1/35 Tamiya matilda to build

I am dreading the caunter paint scheme, no idea where to begin it but I'm sure it will be fun to complete.

          Louis.

With any camo scheme I paint a base colour and then mark out the other colours with a pencil if in the case of the Matilda it has three colours I put a little bit of of colour where that colour should go so you don't get confused

That looks pretty good to me Louis! I can't add anything to what the guys have said about painting/washes etc. but one fairly easy thing you could do is drill out the end of the gun barrel. I think it improves the look a lot for a small effort (you don't need to drill the whole length - just a millimetre or so just to show the barrel isn't solid).

A set of micro drills and pin vice will do the job, and you'll find yourself after a couple of months wondering how the h**l you managed without them!

For a first build you've done a great job. These little Airfix kits are a cheap and gentle introduction to model building, I hope it won't be your last.
On the bench: Airfix 1/48 Sea King HC4, Revell 1/24 Trabant.
Coming soon: Airfix 1/72 Phantom FGR2.
Just finished: Airfix 1/48 Stuka & Airfix 1/72 Sea King HC4.
