I know the feeling Alan, one of the things I try to do at the end is to add some brownish hues very lightly around just to break up the base color a bit, I'll pin wash some seams, around closed hatches hinges etc... for a little extra depth. I'll let you in on a little secret, take some of that dirty wash {I always keep a small tub of it on the ready} and with a semi-dry small brush just dopple it on the edges here and there
then with a mixture of silver, black and just a touch of brown {I use Testors enamels } and with a very dry brush {ladies eye shadow brushes work best} "two hairs and some air" as I like to say, just barely hint it around those edges, this gives a nice worn metal effect. takes a bit of practice but once you got it down you'll see the difference, this also gives a nice bit of metallic sheen on the edges {looks good in photos} hope this helps a bit.........Just don't start out-doing me now........Jim
