Panzer II, Tamiya 1/35, Desert GB

    and finished

whole thing was done as a bit of a speed build.....something to keep me going for a while, now i need to get the bench cleared ready for the next project

added some cargo on the back....gave the whole thing a dust wash which went wrong......i had a bottle of the humbrol 'sand' pigment so gave it a go..........wasnt impressed, the colour is far too yellow.....looked horrible in the pics once the flash got on it so i washed it off and redid it with MiG 'Gulf War Sand'

wanted to use the base that i did for the M60 since this is supposed to be 'in the desert', but since the Panzer II is a quarter of the size of the M60 it looked a bit lost , found a tent/figure set so used them just as something to fill it in.....if i hadnt been working to a tight schedule i might have tried covering the tent to give it some texture, and will do if it gets recycled at some point

Looks good Paul , I've built this kit and I really enjoyed making it it's a great kit to build

On the photos it looks a little lifeless that's not your build that's a camera thing they tend to pick up highlight I've had it happen with my photos

What I do now it just give it a dry brush on the edges and hatches as it brings out the detail better on photos

Great work Paul, that came out nicely and looks very good indeed. I like the tent and scene, simple yet effective.

Nice model, the humbrol weathering powders can be mixed to get the desired tones and colours I think. They are good with the decal fix as you can paint it on, let it dry and re-activate it

ive done that with the rust colour before and was surprised who well that trick works

this wasnt about the quality of the stuff but the colour.........it looked ok til i used a camera with a flash, it showed up very yellow, strange colour since it was supposed to be 'sand', was just easier to start again with stuff i knew looked right

yeah a flash can do that - particularly indoors with other lighting temperatures and they way it may reflect back of the media

Unless your a professional photographer it's impossible to take a natural photo , I have apps to help but I still can't do it
