    1/35 italeri/zvezda BT-5 with Miniart figure to try new techniques

    Hi all!

    I've stopped work on the 1/16th Kubelwagen with crew to have a try out of some new techniques with Static grass, bases and colour modulation, filters etc
    I grabbed an old shelf queen that I'd worked on several years ago and abandoned at the primer stage. Made a basic base from an MDF plinth a mate at my old club in teeside gave me and after slapping a layer of air dry clay and some scatter on it did my first Static-grass application!

    Painted the figure ( boots to finish ) and started in on the tank...

    It's a horrible little kit but is perfect to try out ...
    Modulation with airbrushed acrylic.
    Oil dot modulation over that..
    Chipping...
    Rust washes and dark brown washes..
    Dust Washes..

    That's as far as I've got, next up is more work on the tracks and making a decision on whether to paint the grass or not?
    Almost certainly I will so that I can control how the tank and the tanker fit with the base, become integrated with it and not float, colour-wise, sortathing ...

    Been at this for about 14 days..

      Very nice indeed Mark. As well as everything looking the part think the flowers at the left hand just set it off perfectly. Nice touch .

          Looks great, is the static grass hard to apply?

              Not difficult at all! I got a cheap applicator off ebay and watched a couple of videos on YouTube! Used thinned pva for the first layer and got a specific spray glue to add extra layers..

                          The flowers are from a set by tremendous I bought a few years ago.
                          Like grass tufts but with tiny bits added.
