The Cavalry Carrier is one of those 'what were they thinking?' jobs. When the cavalry regiments were mechanised, and added into the infantry divisions as reconnaissance units, there were lots of spare bods left over that didn't fit into the tanks. So, some bright spark had the idea to make a carrier for them, and deploy them as mounted infantry to support the tanks...
The ex-cavalrymen hated them because they gave just a little extra mobility but with no protection at all. The infantry had trucks! It also needed an uprated engine to carry the weight of six men (plus driver) and their gear, and THAT also required nearly doubling the fuel capacity just to have adequate mobility. Only about 50 were made, and all left in France. The Mk.II, depicted here, differs from the Mk.I in replacing the mesh leg protectors with curved full mudguards

The only picture I've found of one of these in France is towing an 18/25 pdr artillery piece and full limber. Plus, probably, the gun crew. So, a hardy little beast!
This is the early version with lower suspension. When it was modified by raising the idler wheel, similar to that of the Carriers, it made them slightly faster, but no better cross-country

This is a one-piece resin casting, with the addition of stowage, tarps, and return roller brackets. The figure is a modified Warlord plastic, with a German officer head to make the GS cap!
