    1/48 Russian KV-1 Tank

    Hi people

    I am new here.

Hope to learn some tips n tricks to improve my builds.

Here is one of my latest, the very first experiment on hairspray technique and winter camo.

    Kit is from Hobby Boss.

Realize that the white is a bit too white, or maybe is the camera and lightings...comments, critics and feedbacks are welcomed ... but be gentle to newbie

great work Ryan lov it , real nice weathering, and over all top notch for me,but i like harsh weathering as Ian said the hairstick tech

          worked well for you,

looking at the spair tracks you have what paints did you use on them as i like that look as well ?

People ... thanks for the kind comments.

Monica, for the spare tracks, first i airbrush with dark brown + black ( ratio 3 : 1 ) and then a layer of Matt Clear. After that, I use a sponge and dip it into Oil Paint ... yeppp, you did not see wrongly, Oil Paint. Rub the sponge on a piece of paper until it is almost dry, and then at random, dabbed the sponge on the track. I repeat this step with the following colors, the darker color first, followed by the lightest color.

            1.Raw Umber,

            2. Burnt Sienna

Key here is, make sure the sponge is 90% dried ... When the Oil Paint cured, spray a layer of Matt Clear again.

Excellent build......It's screaming out for a nice snow/mud base though. What say you, W.R.?

                  spanner570 ...

I am basically OutOfBox builder...don't really have the guts and skills to scratch build.

I do have some diorama materials, perhaps when I gather some courage, I shall try it out.

Very nice I love the chipping effect it looks very realistic , I agree with Ron a winter base would really bring it to life not that it doesn't look great as it is that is

It reminds me of one of those tanks that you see all covered in grafitti. All abandoned and forgotten...
