    1 72 scale U S ,W W 1scratch built railgun

Hi guys long while since I posted been still building but no sunlight to shoot pics, until yesterday.
Latest scratch railgun apart from wheels (that came from 00 gauge rolling stock) the model is 17 inches long, barrel is turned in aluminium.
This is a model of the only railgun built by the U S in W W 1 it is a 14 inch gun maned by navy personal five were built in total and the first arrived in France in oct 1918 ,the last shot was fired on nov 11 th that landed few seconds before eleven o clock.
have included of few pics of build as the body is quit long I used a sandwich method of building sides, with foam middle and plastic card both sides makes for a strong unit. figures are from W D models.Click image for larger version

Another gem for the display cabinet!

You should contact your nearest military museum and ask if they'd like to set up a display. Betcha they'd go for it like a shot!

They had a little amount of play on barrel but they just laid track in a curve .

Absolutely stunning Barry. One of your best builds so far. Thanks for sharing a little of how you put it together. Have you ever done/thought of doing a detailed blog of how you work your magic??

                      What's next on the horizon?

Thanks Steve I have thought about it but I think a blog may be a bit boring as apart from the detailing if you can build a box from plastic card you can build a railgun .The biggest problem is the barrel as they always taper and have to be turned.
Next on the drawing board is the huge w w 1 British gun called BOCH BUSTER and it is big.
Will try to get a photo to post later.
