Hi chaps I'm looking for some help.


In the kit instructions and decals it has decals for 3/4 vehicles however I'm looking for more.


Well I have the idea now of the Whippet being inspected by King George V in 1918 ( I think it was in a trading ground ( got the pic off web and now to find decals


I researched William Foster & Co of Lincoln that built the 200 units but can't find any decals to depict individual tanks. The particular tank is A324/ or A326 ( both Whippet As) and my pic depicts King George V checking them out ( this is what I will try ( note try to depict )

Got a couple of coats of Olive grey Model Air 71.015 on th Whippet now and again it's bringing out the rivot detail even better ( which I have to rust up a little) I think I counted them and lost count at over 250!!


I have steel painted the wheels 70.864 Natural steel Model Color and given a brown humbrol wash to bring out the detail.


Painted the sprockets and chains and again given a brown wash.


I can't seem to find a 1/35 King George V figure so I have decided to go down another path with it's display

The model Color natural steel is thick even once vigorously shaken but has no sheen to it. I would like to have the oily steel in my collection ( what number is it ) I used the dark brown oil wash ( humbrol ) thinned down and dropped with a pointed brush, gravity did the rest and left to dry. I think it gives that oily look I wanted to acheive.

I know nothing about Vallejo colours, but it looks really effective Robert

the vallejo No,is 70.865 for oilysteel,and I also use chairmail silver as well No,72.753 which is a little like your Natural steel Model Color,being a little darker,,


in most waster of steel colors I tend to use some think like a hullred first then a lite rust,

MIG AMMO Streaking Rust is a great and easy to use product Robert. Especially if you want a rust run coming down from a rivet or girder section.......thou can have it a dark or light as you want and it fades down easily for just a rust stain.

Thanks Peter , I have a few rusts in Vallejo range lights and darks ( always need more though heh ) I'll pop John a list I'm sure he can do a deal on some sort of set eh.

Well the kits coming along nicely and no major fit issues anywhere on the kit. Main hull and body all fitted ( just a few bits to add. Given 1st coat of Clear after the 71.015 Olive grey.


Painted the track Spurs ( you get 20 in the kit and although I sprayed with 70. 843 Cork brown, once removed there is clean up as always and ended up taking the blinkin paint off ( cocktail sticks and white tack and resprayed ( yippee).


I've sorced some decals from Xtradecal as I didn't want to do the versions in the kit ( thanks Dubster for your time and effort on this)


Exhausts sprayed natural steel and will then be attacked with light rust as this will be a nearly new Whippet in the field.


Started painting my first dog too ( German shepherd) thanks for advice Monica )

Looking very good, i assumed the engine was in the rear and not actually the front end. Shows how wrong you can be. Chair pulled up with a cuppa

From ref it was the worst tank to drive as it had two engines side by side driveshafts to the rear ( two clutches two gear shifts) The driver had to be a juggler to operate. Crews took it in turn to be in there as it was too hot and smelly and not very well armoured. So crew A would operate 3 days then swap over to B crew.


Did its job though and was liked by the forces in general.

The rest of my parts arrived this morning from postie so that's me all set for the dio. I'll sort that later but here's a few pics of arrivals.


The WW1soldires are 1/35 from Masrerbox so they should be spot on with detail and I saved Monica's painting guide so hopefully I can do them some justice.


Doing my research generic white numbers very similar to Navy so will use these from Hanants.


The lettering generic is taken from white lettering from Royal Air Force so think I can get away with it.


I intend to give another coat of Matt clear once decalling done then into the airing cupboard for a day to cure ( I'm in a sealed box to stop the dust settling then it's weathering time.
