Dragon Tiger 1 Initial Production.

Nope! And to be honest, I can't find any that are guaranteed to fit, and as everything is online, I can't see what I'm buying, very frustrating. I've googled and searched everywhere for engine grilles for the Initial production tiger and come up with a blank! If I thought the engine and fan compartments were common to all models, I'd take a punt, but I don't know. Also, I'm not even sure the initial release had them - they certainly didn't have a lot of the stuff that subsequent versions had! Happy to be informed on this!

Well I wouldn't want to say for certain, but my feeling is that all Tigers had engine grilles. Those large gaps on the engine deck are broken ankles just waiting to happen!

There is a cheap way to add engine grilles. I bought a frying pan splatter guard from a Poundshop & cut it up for my E-50 build. I thought it worked quite well






Obviously it's not vital.... but exposed engine decks are a bit of a bugbear of mine!

That's a cracking idea! I'm also hoping that somewhere, someone makes a generic sheet of grill etch, a bit like the ship railings you can buy. With a bit of thin plasticard, it'd be a piece of piss to make these! But my irritation is mostly pointed at Dragon, who always seemed to supply at least the basic etch in their kits, removing a sizeable box of high quality metal parts - shackles, a bucket, alloy barrel, brass ammo, smoke launchers etc without cutting a penny off the price, has NOT endeared me to them!

you're right, it is assumed that a brand / model that category should include all that, and if there be cheaper ....

I did mate! I trawled through all the reviews, and made my decision based upon these findings. Hannants informed me that Dragon play this game a lot - release a kit full of goodies and extras, let the reviews run, then change the specs without any warning or price reduction! I watched a YouTube vid the other day by a guy talking about all the Dragon versions of the Tiger, and the shenanigans that ensued over different versions, I'll find the link and post it here, it's very interesting viewing! I can't deny that this is a beautiful kit, and the detail and quality are really top notch, but at £59 it is very pricey. But I specifically wanted to build an initial production model, and this was the one to build. At least my missus bought it, so the wallet sting isn't quite so painful . And I'm gonna Really enjoy painting it!

Well, it's really expensive (and more if you turn it into euro ...), if ever you notice any instructions appliance purchases, there is a phrase that is repeated in all, no matter who is the manufacturer is It allows the right to change article specificaions without notice .... terribly wrong, but this is really what consumers care about.

Well, after going around in circles for an hour yesterday, I took a punt on an Eduard grill set for Tamiya Tiger - £2.99 from eBay, and guess what?






They fit like a glove! Thanks Internet for sharing that with me.....not!

base coat sprayed on, thats the last spraying that'll be happening on this, all brushes from now on.

Yeah, I'm happier with a brush, but wheels are a menace, as are those pesky grilles! This is a basic mid sea grey, the panzer grey will be achieved with enamel filters, then I intend to try out oil rendering, then it'll be pigment city USA! I'm glad the base coat bit is over, I'm always anxious about clogging etc. Mind you, that's a lot of tyres to paint, and that's my next job .

I do know exactly what you mean! However, 40 rims is 'avin' a larf innit? Also, a lot of them is going to be covered in pony , which gives me some flexibility, although I will strive for perfection, as ever...

I think I have something along that number I'm about to do for my Hanomag....... They are all in primer now as well.
