    Model Collect 1/72 T-90MS

I have been looking forward to building this kit. I was already impressed by the quality of moulding but the test of a kit is in its building.

I can honestly say that it has been a pleasure to build and it is just about ready for primer after just a single day of relaxed modelling.

First up is the gorgeous turret festooned with reactive armour

Followed by the parts for the remote controlled machine gun

A few other bits and bobs and the turret is finished

Then onto the front glacis plate and more bolt on reactive armour

Then the only tricky bit. As the kit is based on a basic T-90 with parts to convert to the different versions. This is the only modification as the rear left fender end is cut off and a new part added. You do need a fine saw for this but it is not difficult.

And here we have the new part fitted and it fits perfectly

Next stage starts off attaching the front end

and a chance to see how huge the turret is compared to the hull

Side skirts and rear bar armour fits perfectly

Beautifully detailed spacing of the side skirts

It's Russian so it has to have external fuel tanks and the rear hull plate is very finely detailed. Once the parts are added, this is the first part to be attached to the metal cast lower hull.

You get loads of wheels with this kit. 12 inner road wheels and three sets of slightly different outer road wheels. Given that the wheels can hardly be seen, this is a good point in ModelCollect's favour

and here it is in all its glory. Just the tracks to paint up and the tank primed ready for painting

This has been a wonderful one day stress free build and I cannot wait to start painting it. I do think I will regret gluing all those sticky up bits on the turret when it comes to painting if I end up having to mask it.....

Although expensive, they do seem to be very detailed kits Graham.

I've recently finished the Revell 1/72 T-90 & this one looks even nicer.

Cheers Patrick. Expensive? Well, not cheap but honestly, for the quality of the kit and the detail I think it is worth the price.

Cheers John. I got the Mig Ammo modern Russian colours set so I will be testing those. The scheme is an all over light sand with a grey green camo pattern with the occasional patch of tan coming off the edge of the green.

That's the plan, it may not turn out like that

That's one very good looking 1/72 scale build so far Graham. I'm also looking forward to the paint going on

Bit of paint slapped on tonight. Looks a bit raw but a filter and wash will bring it together. The Fenghua 0.2 mm BD-180 that I got from John at Scale Model Shop has performed brilliantly during this, and the last few builds. To be able to do freehand camo on a 1/72 tank and prime a two story MiniArt building with the same brush without having to even think about it has been a pleasure and has encouraged me to keep moving on with my builds. With my previous much more expensive airbrush, I was often reluctant to do much as I spent so long unblocking it and cleaning it between colours.

                              Paints are Mig Ammo.
