Oh, that's a good looking winter SiG mate. Nice chipped whitewash Simon!

Basket weaving? I love the levels of miniature madness you're prepared to go to. First time I've seen this one but it's a great little build.

        Morning Simon,
I think you’ve nailed this winter white wash....possibly your best results!
I got myself some of the Worn effects stuff recently....I’m going to have to pull an old build out the attic and have a go at this myself .

Hi Simon, it may not look like you wanted it to right now, but it does look very good indeed. After some more weathering to it I'm sure you can get it just how you want it, without it going back on the shelf.

I think it's coming along fine Simon - not too 'arty', more like reality. I think weathering whitewash can be a very subjective thing (bit like painting faces) and it's always hard to take a step back and view is at others might. Keep going!

              Hi Simon
I'm with Ian. It may not be what you had in mind but I reckon it is far too good to go 'back in the cupboard'.

                Simon,
Not one thing wrong with that finish, now onto the finishing post.
                Cheers

Cheers Wouter - it didn't really turn out like I envisaged as it got left too long

Mick - thank you. It took quite a bit of rebuilding - the original build got up to 260+ photos

Si - thanks. 'best yet' and I wasn't really happy with it :smiling:
The AK stuff works but don't leave it more than a day as it gets hard to remove the paint. Best would be to do all spraying in the morning and then spend the afternoon with a cocktail stick pulling bits off again

Ian - thank you for another positive vote :thumb2: I am never right sure about my painting 'skills' or lack thereof

Peter - didn't turn out like the 1:1 reference but I decided to do a little more work on it

                  Jim - cheers

                  Mike - thanks

It got a black/dark brown water based oil wash into all the nooks and crannies

Then I dropped it when it fell off the stick it was mounted on - oops. Well it is a rather heavy chunk of resin

I expected that to be project terminated but miraculously it survived the 6" fall onto my paints and wooden board without a scratch!

So I went on to paint the tracks and tow rope with VJ track primer followed by a rust pigment/X20 wash

The exhausts got the same treatment plus a sprinkle with more pigment dust - they will need further work once dry to tone things down a bit

                    Hi Simon,

Chipping and winter camo are very nice. Good thing this was taken out of the cupboard. Earlier images seem to give the hull a slightly lopped sided look but I guess it was the photo distortion. Better in later images.

                    Cheers,
                    Richard

                      Simon.
There is nothing amiss with that winter wash, as we discussed some time ago the mixture was manly of white wash, applied in the field in a hurry. STAND AWAY :thumb2::thumb2::thumb2::thumb2::thumb2:

Thanks Richard - no, not lopsided, must be just the angle of the photos

John - the paint is too hard to do any more wear so it will be staying as is :thumb2:

Knocked the rear stowage box off for the third time :rolling:

No progress worthy of photos though

Your scratched whitewash camo looks great all the way around to me too Simon... my eyes keep getting drawn to the tracks, they really look the part, good job with the pigments !

                            Cheers Ron

Tracks still need a rub with a pencil to put some metallic highlights on them

                              Mr T

I have looked through a few pictures on the winter camo scheme and your interpretation does not look out of place at all. It may not have been achieved the way you wanted to but the end result is spot on

The tracks will look great with a little HB:thumb2:

That looks great Simon, nothing wrong with it at all. Looking forward to more updates.
