M2A1

Hello all,
I haven't posted a build for a while ( thank god they shout) but I have been working on Dragons M2/M2A1. Although not normally a fan of Dragon I do like this vehicle so decided to give it a go. I also have the Voyager etch set which I have used selectively, as with all etch the kit part is quite often better or as good as the etch offering. Plus a few but not many little additions for example the exhaust bracket and brake pipes.
I am now working on the .50 ring I am attempting to solder it for strength and turning the air blue trying to hold the pieces and solder at the same time. If I am not happy with the results I will modify the kit offering.
Thanks for looking, normal abuse and comments welcome.

Hi Scottie
I build this back in 2010 - I think it was only the second kit I had built. Straight out of the box.

I shall certainly be interested in seeing what more experience and after market goodies can make of it. I seem to remember getting the star decal onto the open louvres at the front was fun! Yours already looks much better than mine.

A wonderfully tidy and detailed build. Great stuff:thumb2: Have you decided on company insignia and which theatre of war it will be set?

Looking good Scottie....nice build so far.
Blue tack will hold parts together while soldering by the way, as will hot tape, and at a pinch, fingers wrapped in medical tale to insulate against the heat....
Cheers
Tim

Hi Steve,
The finish I was going to do was for an M2 but I have built an A1 so I will have to look again but as you know I never let accuracy get in the way :tongue-out3:

Hey, Scottie builds a metal half track...Full update on the 11 o'clock news!!!

Seriously though Paul, this is a really tight build so far. I was just about to ask you if you had a project in the pipeline, and you hit us with this baby. Good luck with the .50 ring and don't burn up the fingers while soldering my friend. You got this little etch stuff nailed. Really top work!!!

Prost

Hi Allen,
Good to see you mate. There is a lot of metal but I have also left a lot off lol. The .50 ring is going to be a mixture of solder and CA some bits are just to tight to get my iron in. I need to invest in a far finer pointed one.

Looks good, though I came here expecting an M2A1 medium tank or an M2A1 Bradley or an M2A1 105 mm howitzer … (IOW: you may want to add “Halftrack” to the thread’s title )

Jakko,

I like to keep people guessing lol. If I knew how to change the title I would to avoid more confusion.
